Implications of the terror attacks in Sinai

This latest terror attack on Israel coming from egyptian territory along with Egypt's hysterical reaction to Israel defending itself should be used as an opportunity for a strategic rethink on the part of Israel.

Israel is not facing palestinian terror alone, but a steadily building nexus of state sponsored terror, possibly as a prelude to all out war against it.

Syria may or may not be fatally weakened in the short term by its internal protests but in the near future Israel will be faced with the possibility of a number of fronts including Gaza, Egypt, Lebanon and very possibly Iran. Egypt is the game changer. It has the largest and most modern arab army in the middle east and the possibility is growing that it will be prepared to use it against Israel in the not too distant future. Saudi Arabia must not be discounted either despite Iran being predominant as its main strategic concern. Attacking Israel during a war can be difficult to resist as King Hussein found in 1973. Even after he warned Golda Meir of the coming attack on Yom Kippur, he still went on to send his crack tank brigade to help Syria on the Golan Heights (coordinated with a surprise Iraqi in filtration of hundreds of tanks and a division of 18,000 men). Whether Iran influenced Iraq will join in any new attack on Israel is also a moot point. It certainly won't fight Iran if it would attempt to transfer troops and supplies to the front against Israel in a future arab-Israel war.

Israel must not forget either 25,000 PA troops/police who might be used to harry Israel along its lines of communications during a future war, to hinder its mobilisation whilst under intense rocket attack from Hezbollah, Gaza and Iran. The PA force would most likely attempt to cut the country in two whilst otherwise occupied.


With the above in mind Al Ahram's report in arabic today regarding the attack on Israel near Eilat by palestinian terrorists at least some of whom were according to eyewitnesses wearing Egyptian army uniform is instructive of the strategic shift in egyptian thinking, of its new and radicalised attitude to Israel.

Al Ahram mentions the egyptian government calling

“for an urgent investigation in the deaths and injuries of its troops in the border” after “the martyrdom of 3 and of the injury of 7 Egyptian security forces yesterday in the Egyptian border.”

The paper mentions

“a wave of outrage in political circles after the death of an officer and two soldiers yesterday evening on the border by Israeli fire. “

“Amr Moussa a likely candidate for the presidency wants a strong message to be sent to Israel, that

“Israel should be aware that the day when Israel kills our children without the appropriate strong response have gone never to return.”

Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh, the Muslim Brotherhood candidate for the presidency (and possibly Egypt's future president) has called to

'expel the Israeli ambassador and to stop gas exports to Israel'

(Mr Fotouh should know that there are no such exports of gas as beduin allied to Hamas/Al Qaida having blown up the pipeline for the fifth time are still waiting for it to be fixed so that they can repeat the exercise).

Al Ahram continues that:

“several hundred young people held a protest in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo to protest the crime committed by Israeli forces against the Egyptian soldiers.
And called on young people to expel the Israeli ambassador and denounced the aggressive policies of its government. ”

“Israel has sought yesterday to escalate the tension in the region to continue to launch violent raids on the Gaza Strip. After a long night witnessed a brutal bombardment by the Israelis on the Gaza Strip killed and wounded dozens, Israeli warplanes resumed raids Monday morning targeting security installations belonging to Hamas in Gaza. The shelling killed a Palestinian child and wounded 71 others, in reprisal for the killing of 8 Israelis yesterday in attacks by insurgents in southern Israel near the border with Egypt. ”

Notice that there is no condemnation of the terror attack on Israel by Al Ahram a mouthpiece of the Egyptian government. There is no attempt to understand that Israel has a legitimate right to defend itself, or explain that Israeli representatives have reiterated that there was no intention to harm Egypt or its soldiers.

There is only anger that Israel is supposedly seeking to 'escalate' the tensions. That Israel only has peaceful intentions towards Egypt and only attacks Gaza in self-defence after being attacked does not fit with the demonic image of Israel that Al Ahram (and at one remove the new government of Egypt) seems to wish to portray.

That Israel targeted and killed the leadership of the PRC a Hamas linked terrorist group that committed the attack on Israel is not even mentioned in the Al Ahram article. Only the fact of the tragic death of a child is mentioned, to intimate that Israel was taking indiscriminate revenge rather than bringing justice to the named culprits being sheltered by Hamas in Gaza.

The fact that there was only one civilian death out of five terrorists killed in a number of operations by Israel is a testimony to Israel's success in avoiding civilian casualties in its operations. Nato forces and even UK and US forces come nowhere near the israeli success in avoiding civilian casualtiesin similar operations.


Al Ahram goes on to mention the burial of “police captain Ahmed Galal Mohamed, who fell by Israeli fire during the performance of his duty. ” There is no mention that the situation is unclear as to just who killed the policeman, that maybe he was caught in crossifre during the firefight between the terrorists and Israelis, or even that the policeman might have participated in the attack that happened right under the noses of an Egyptian strongpoint. There is no mention that it is not even certain that an Israeli killed the the police captain. Al Ahram fails to mention that the Israelis had been chasing the terrorists who had killed seven and injured scores of people at the border in hot pursuit.

The Egyptian press has long incited against Israel and today the Egyptian government is acting like Turkey over the Mavi-Marmara incident (Turkish terrorists were killed after attacking Israeli soldiers. The Turkish government has subsequently all but cut the once close ties with Israel).

Egypt has moved rapidly to condemn Israel and withdraw its ambassador. Leading secular candidates for the November elections in Egypt are calling (again) for an end to the peace treaty with Israel.

What is interesting is that the Egyptian government has rushed to condemn Israel and withdraw its ambassador rather than worry about the possibility that some of its soldiers in the Sinai and on the border with Israel might be out of control, that they either took part in, or allowed the terrorists to infiltrate and attack Israel in the vicinity of one of their military outposts.

Rather than show that Egypt is worried at this further indication that the situation in the Sinai is deteriorating rapidly, that the Sinai is becoming a staging ground for attacks on Egyptian outposts, its gas pipeline and now on Israel, its very sovereignty there, the Egyptian government has utilised this serious act of aggression against Israel commited from egyptian territory to turn its ire on Israel the victim of that aggression.

Indeed the egyptian government has sought on the one hand to deny that the attack was launched from the Sinai, whilst on the other hand it has “blamed Israel for lax border controls.” So Israel is to be blamed for terrorist attacks against it on the grounds that it fails to act in its defence of itself because of lax border controls yet when Israel then kills the culprits Israel is again culpable for having acted. This ridiculous argument is like condemning a man mugged in the street as being responsible for what happened by virtue of not watching his back.

Israel has very good security along the Egyptian border as this writer personally witnessed one night not too long ago. The patrol that came accross me had already arrested beduin smugglers that very night. Israel is furthermore building a fence along the whole stretch of the border, but no system of security can eliminate the risk that those who wish to harm you will find your weak spot and succeed.

Survivors of one of the terror attacks mentioned having seen terrorists dressed in Egyptian camouflage who were supposedly mending a border fence before attacking the Israelis.

In this report in Haaretz:

“Witnesses describe attackers dressed in Egyptian military fatigues. "I thought they were soldiers repairing the fence," Bilefsky recalls. "I slowed a bit, and then I caught a hail of bullets."”

Rather than Egypt rushing to condemn Israel for what happened when Israelis allegedly killed Egyptian soldiers (the exact facts of the incident remain unclear as to whether Israelis did in fact kill Egyptian soldiers or police) surely Egypt should understand that Israel was faced with a dire situation during this terror attack that was staged by a large group and carried out in a number of places with at least one group using a vehicle to move about during their mission to kill israeli civilians.
Surely it is in Egypt's interests to stop and think before condemning Israel? Mubarak didn't act to seall of Gaza because he loved Israel, just the opposite. Whilst Israel bled he did nothing. It was only when Hezbollah and Hamas agents were arrested in Egypt and planning attacks there that Mubarak understood the threat they posed to the Egyptian state. Has this egyptian government already forgotten the lesson that giving terrorists succour even when they are attacking the “enemy” Israel will come back to bite Egypt. Has egyptian rule in the Sinai not already suffered in the recent attacks on its installations there?

There seems to be an agenda at work. Just as with the attempted lynchings aboard the Mavi Marmara, this attack and Israel's response to it is a golden opportunity for those in Egypt who wish to undermine the peace treaty with Israel to ratchet up a gear.


The Egyptian authorities have never promoted peace with Israel, but rather allowed the cold peace to continue whereby egyptian media constantly incites against Israel.

However ludicrous the allegation, Israel will always fit the bill for the conspiracy theorists. Israel is of course responsible when sharks kill tourists, for trying to sterilise Egyptian women and whatever new demonic Israeli plan Israel's detractors can dream up.

That the egyptian government in Mubarak's time never acted against the constant demonisation of jews and Israel was one thing, but to actively act to undermine the peace process (even before Israel buried the victims of this new terror outrage) is playing with fire with an egyptian populace that is young, brought up on anti-semitic stereotypes and false allegations and therefore see themselves as somehow under threat by vile zionsists, who have thereby been prepared over many a long year to willingly take part in any future conflict with Israel and yet do not know the horrors of war.
There is a whole new generation that is prepared, willing and very possibly looking forwards to a new war with Israel.

Egypt's economy already on the rocks does not need even the posturing short of war (that might easily ensue). The egyptian government needs to act to calm frayed nerves amongst a hysterical population rather than add to the incitement against Israel.

The lessons of Nasser are still relevant. That Nasser in 1967 possibly did not intend to have a war with Israel despite his posturing, his ordering his armies into the Sinai, his instructing the UN out of the Sinai (they just upped and left and are a reminder to israel about relying on international guarantees of its security) and closing the straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping along with of course the drumbeat of threats in the arab media boasting that they would soon slaughter the jews, should weigh heavily on Egypt's present rulers.

The middle-east is a tinder box needing only the slightest of sparks to ignite a regional conflagration.

Israel should take careful note that this reaction by Egypt to Israel defending itself from attack from Egyypt's border with Israel is happening when Israel is undoubtedly in the right to defend itself from a complicated and multi-pronged terrorist attack.
That there is no understanding only condemnation and threats from Egypt makes it clear that things have changed very much for the worse in Egypt since the ouster of Mubarak earlier this year, that even the current conservative egyptian regime looks upon Israel with hostile intent.

Things will without doubt continue to deteriorate after the elections in November as no party, democratic or islamist has demonstrated its intention to honour the peace treaty with Israel. Just the opposite. The only signs given by representatives of egyptian democratic parties are that Israel is considered “the enemy”.

“Al-Karama party representative Amin Iskander said the party wishes to


cancel the agreement "immediately because it’s not in Egypt’s interest.”

This is after 30 years of a peace agreement, after Israel uprooted all its settlements, compensated Egypt for all oil extracted after 1967 and in 1982 handed all of Sinai back to Egypt.

Israel needs to wake up to the realities happening in the middle east and today's Al Ahram, mouthpiece of the government should help indicate the reality. Israel must not let 1973 repeat itself. Slowly but surely a rejectionist front is building around Israel and Israel should act to neutralise Gaza first.

Israel has after operation Cast Lead had relative peace, but at no time have the rockets stopped terrorising the south of Israel. Israel's border communities must not have to face another 10 years of indiscriminate terror, of its children never knowing when a missile will come crashing into the house or kindergarten. No country in the world will accept that. Israel must finally make a stop to it now that tens of Grad and other types of rockets have started landing ever further into the heartlands of Israel.

Israel needs to reoccupy the Philadelphia coridoor to starve Hamas of its sophisticated armaments supplies, then the mistake of 'Cast Lead' must be corrected. The Hamas entity of an islamist threat from Gaza needs to be uprooted by a 'Defensive Shield' style suppression of its terror before a future islamist government in Egypt concludes a mutual defence pact with it. If Israel needs to reoccupy Gaza then that is surely no worse than having to ring Gaza and seal the Sinai border with ever more troops.

In deciding on a new 'Cast Lead' Israel also now has to take into account the added headache when contemplating hitting Iran's nuclear sites of not just Hezbollah and its rocket arsenal but Iran's ally in Gaza which receives funding, training and munitions from Iran.

Lebanon has long been Iran's front with Israel and any confrontation with Iran will almost certainly involve the firing of many thousands of rockets into Israel. The so-called 'balance of terror'. Iran quite possibly has the same arrangement with Hamas for its support.

So let's think again about Gaza.


Will Israel hit the terrorists Gaza again if Hamas has a mutual defence pact with Egypt?

If such a pact arises will Israel then react to terrorist attacks coming from Gaza? If Israel even now suffers from a lack of will to respond to attacks on Sderot, just how much more difficult will the situation be once Israel has to decide whether to sacrifice the 'peace' treaty in order to react to future outrages against its population?

Israel has existential problems in addition to Gaza that can not be dealt with during Obama's period in office. If as is hoped Obama's presidency ends next year the threat from Gaza must be neutralised before dealing with Hezbollah or even Iran. Hezbollah acts more rationally than Hamas and there is a very fragile peace on the northern front but it is holding. Until Israel decides to remove Iran's nuclear threat Hezbollah should, whilst it holds the peace be left alone.

Hamas however is not Hezbollah. It is more anarchic, less able to maintain the peace, less willing to restrain itself so deep is its wish to harm jews and Israel in the absence of the iron will of a Nasrallah. It would be the utmost folly for Israel to allow a united front to arise between Hamas and Egypt.

Hamas must not be given the chance to conclude a defence treaty with an Egypt ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas needs to be removed in the 'lame duck' period next year when Obama hopefully returns home to obscurity. Will Netanyahu find the courage to act?

Muslim Brotherhood hatred of the west and Israel

An interview Michael Totten held with Esam El-Erian and executive member of the Muslim Brotherhood is revealing.

In it Esam El-Erian mouths the need for a “free and independent democratic state”. He admits to an overwhelming hatred of the west, of its responsibility for dictatorships in the arab world. The hatred is such that at times it becomes illogical.

Esam El-Erian berates the west for supporting Qaddafi even whilst it is bombing him! Esam El-Erian would not distinguish between the acts of western governments and their peoples who as they elected governments are responsible for the support given to dictators.

The MB spokesman would not explain why it is not participating in the Tahrir demonstrations at the moment. Is it because the MB has an agreement with the army? Is it because it knows that its constituency is the street, the masses of the dispossessed and the poor, not minority of liberals and socialists, the facebook users. Is the reason that the MB is preparing for power and doesn't see itself as needing to ally itself with disparate and mostly unrepresentative demonstrators in Tahrir Square?

Esam El-Erian saw the US and its allies as fomenting terror, not being the victims of it. Although not spelling it out in so many words, the peace treaty with Israel will cease to exist and 'support' for palestinians means that war will follow. There was a refusal to condemn Hamas for its use of indiscriminate terror against Israel.

As regards palestinians being discriminated against in arab lands the MB showed just how committed to human rights they really are.

Can you imagine a democratic Syria or a democratic Jordan assimilating Palestinians in their lands? They cannot. It is a matter of time. Those people must go back [to Israel]. You prevent Mexicans by force from secret immigration.

MJT: Only illegal immigrants, not legal immigrants.

Esam El-Erian: This is illegal. We cannot have non-citizens in our lands. They take our jobs.

MJT: Palestinian refugees have been living in Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan for more than 60 years.

Esam El-Erian: No! Even if they’ve been there for 200 years, they must go back [to Israel].

”

The west has absorbed millions of refugees over the years, yet the MB would not accept this happening in Egypt. It shows that islamists will shout about racism and human rights, but don't really understand the concepts involved. These are for them just useful slogans for use when dealing with western journalists (with the odd exception such as Totten).

It's not hard to guess though, as in the arab world the conspiracy theorists blame the jews.
The MB hates the west, so it must be jews who would attack the Twin Towers. Similarly it is Iran that daily threatens to wipe out Israel that is most vehement in denying the existence of the Holocaust.

The Muslim Brotherhood is as extremist and anti-western as ever. Hopefully the US government will wake up to this fact. Not before next year though, and not whilst Obama is still president.

Moslem Brotherhood ex-leader Mohamed Akef reiterates MB aims: to re-establish the islamic caliphate in Europe and destroy Israel

alludes in Jordan to the re-establishment of the islamic caliphate and says that “the liberation of Jerusalem starts from the Arab capitals”. In other words, he is calling for the overthrow of moderate arab regimes and their peace treaties with Israel ( secular egyptian parties such as the Wafdhave also called for the abrogation of Egypt's peace treaty with Israel)


Mohamed Mahdi Akef former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and holocaust denier
addressing the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic Labour Party in Jordan made a thinly veiled call for the tearing up of the peace treaties between Israel's two arab neighbours Jordan and Egypt and for the extension of Sharia law there.

The Muslim Brotherhood treads carefully both in Jordan and Egypt where it has to show itself as 'moderate' when expressing itself in public. It is therefore necessary to examine its statements carefully as they will not nowadays be openly anti-semitic or even openly espouse their anti-democratic sentiments. Islamist aspirations are couched in humanistic terminology and that of liberation from oppression.

To understand what the Muslim Brotherhood is really about one must scratch below the surface of such comments, to understand the historical allusions such as to the “virtuous Mujahideen and the Almoravids and the defenders of Jerusalem and the Palestinian issue.” The deeper meanings then become apparent, that the Muslim Brotherhood has not changed, that the goal is for the islamists to first conquer the arab world and then establish the caliphate in europe, to islamify the west.

The reference to the medieval Almoravids that built an empire that extended from Africa to Spain and Portugal is very well understood by Mohamed Mahdi Akef's islamist audience. And that is why the Jordanian authorities keep their version of the MB under tight control.

If only the same could be said for the US that is poised to throw 20 billion dollars at Egypt after its elections in November, no matter which party wins (the MB in Egypt now goes by the moniker of the “Freedom and Justice Party”. This sounds very good, but the justice and freedom will be that of Sharia, a tender justice, once that excludes women and other minorities.

The MB offshoot in Gaza, Hamas points to the Egyptian future that the MB envisages for that country. It most likely won't happen as quickly or as easily in Egypt as happened with the overthrow of the corrupt Fatah party in Gaza. The process will happen more slowly through an ever deepening infiltration of egyptian society and the army, as has been happening for many years in Turkey with much success by the AKP party.

The US however seems to be clueless as regards the Muslim Brotherhood, as it has been with regard to the other islamist movements of Iran, Hezbolla and Hamas.

Rather than warn Egyptian society against the results of radicalisation, the US will reward it for this.
Instead of condemning the islamist bigotry that the deposing of Mubarak unleashed against the Copts,

Jeffrey Feltman the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs has said that the United States will cooperate with the Muslim Brotherhood, “so long as it respects the rule of democracy, minorities’ rights and human rights”, and that, “ the Brothers are part of the international community” Is he serious?

Feltman goes on to say without any proof for this that sectarian strife was caused by the Mubarak regime.

Feltman might read the following expression of Copts' worries as to sectarianism

“As bad as Copts have had it in Egypt, conditions are likely to deteriorate soon, especially if the Muslim Brotherhood takes over. “The overthrow of the Mubarak regime will not by any sense of the imagination lead to the advent of Jeffersonian democracy,” former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton recently told the Daily Caller news website. “The greater likelihood is a radical, tightly knit organization like the Muslim Brotherhood will take advantage of the chaos and seize power. … It is really legitimate for the Copts to be worried that instability will follow Mubarak’s fall and his replacement with the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Copts are ambivalent about Mubarak’s ouster. “He’s the best of the worst,” Sameh Joseph, a church worker at a Coptic church in Alexandria, told a Los Angeles Times reporter. “Whoever comes after him might want to destroy us.””

And this explains why the US is losing credibility throughout the world. Under Obama's watch the US has gone from being seen as a country that will stand by its allies and resist extremist crusading islam to being seen as undermining its moderate arab and islamic allies and whitewashing its enemies in the hope that they will go away or at least moderate their stance. Recently Obama's hacks have been trying to peddle the myth of a 'moderate' Taliban as well. The lie is given to this by the assassinations in Kandahar of Karzai's brother and governor there, along with Kandahar's mayor, not to mention the constant killings of Nato and US troops.


No wonder the egyptian military is negotiating with the Muslim Brotherhood. They see the writing on the wall.

Jihad and violent preaching in mosques

In a survey of mosques in the USA it has been found that where mosques advocate Sharia adherence they are more likely to have materials for their followers advocating violence against non-believers.

100 mosques were randomly surveyed and 51% were found with texts advocating extreme violence against those considered as enemies of islam such as converting to christianity or becoming an 'unbeliever'.

An example in a pamphlet by al-Misri entitled Umdat al-Salik (Reliance of the Traveller) was that, if someone tries to influence another against islam "then it is the duty of Islam to fight him until either he is killed or until he declares his submission".

It is time for the west to take steps to prevent the poisoning of young muslims minds. In every sphere of life nowadays there are regulations, from health and safety to schools to banks. Western countries need to regulate those who would come to their countries as preachers. It has been the case in France for many years.

The 'moderate' Moslem Brotherhood shows its true face in arabic

To those that believe the Moslem Brotherhood is now moderate, is now changed as many western journalists would have you believe, you need look no further than today's Moslem Brotherhood website (June 14 2011). It says that the MB is still true to the ideals of 'Imam al-Banna'. Banna was the man who turned Egyptian nationalism extreme, gave it an islamist and antisemitic twist, who admired and was trained by the nazis, who encouraged muslims to go fight with the nazis in the mufti's Bosnian SS division.

But the message comes through loud and clear, that nothing has changed with the Moslem Brotherhood. This coupled with constant provocations against Israel, the arrest of an israeli tourist as a spy, propaganda about mossad sharks killing tourists in the Red Sea and demonstrations by the April 6th movement calling for the tearing up of the peace treaty with Israel means that the west should be very careful about uncritically supporting the arab spring. There are those who have even called it the 'muslim' spring as despite many brave protester looking to modernise Egypt and the arab world, the sinister Moslem Brotherhood is waiting in the wings, to come to power through the ballot box and take over, as has now happened in Lebanon with the new government, under Hezbollah supported premier Najib Mikati, and previously with Hamas and with the Iranian revolution.


The JCPA gives some background as to the development of extreme ideology in Egypt:

Banna also believed in the compulsory nature of aggressive jihad:

All Muslims must make jihad –Jihad is an obligation from Allah on every Muslim and cannot be ignored or evaded.

But Banna preferred to fight the Jihad once the MB had wrested state power from all rivals:

To get to power Banna was even prepared to ally with the likes of the Nazis.

Banna’s ideology and the Nazi ideology were quite similar. .
The Nazis wanted to create an expansionist empire with a Fuhrer at its head; Banna wanted a Caliphate with a religious leader at its head. In the 30s and 40s the MB worked tirelessly to propagate Nazi propaganda in the Middle East. Members of the MB translated Hitler’s book ‘Mein Kampf’ into Arabic, calling it ‘My jihad’ and they also propagated the notorious anti-Semitic forgery ‘The Protocols of the Elders of Zion’.

At the outbreak of WW2 Banna also appealed to Nazi Germany for help in fighting against the British backed monarchy in Egypt. MB even helped spy on the movement of British troops for the Nazis. The Nazi party’s ascent to power through exploiting democratic means inspired Banna to similarly use democracy as a tool to take power. The best known Nazi sympathiser in the Muslim brotherhood was Banna’s friend Hajj al-Amin Housseni who worked to propagate Nazi propaganda. Housseni, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, instigated riots against the Jews in 1929 (which destroyed the 3000-year old Jewish community in Hebron) and again in 1936 before visiting Nazi Germany in 1941. The founder of Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) Taqiuddin al-Nabhani , who, prior to establishing HT was involved with the MB, also associated with Housseni.

Another prominent member of the Muslim brotherhood was Syed Qutb. Qutb’s books, especially ‘Milestones’ and ‘Social Justice in Islam’ played a key part in formulating Islamism’s violent ideology. Qutb also wrote an essay called “Our struggle against the Jews” in which he condemns the Jews as being the root of all evil. Although he was executed in1966, his works continue to be a source of inspiration for militant Islamist movements like al-Qaeda

France gains cudos for helping the rebels in Libya - not the USA or the UK

Surprise surprise. According to a report on BBC Radio 4 today the islamists and other rebels in Libya aren't thanking the US and the UK for helping them.

So why is France the only country to get credit? Is it because of its traditional selling out of western interests in favour of narrow nationlist ones? Is it because of the hatred for the US, where nothing the USA does will find appreciation in the arab or islamic world? And the UK? Well selling out Israel (David Cameron's inane Gaza 'concentration camp' speech when touting for business in Turkey)doesn't seem to have helped Britain's reputation either.

Obama prepared to sell out his allies from the Yemen and Egypt to Israel, not caring that Syria and the islamists of Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran are continuing to increase their influence.

But we saw today with the four minute ovation for Israeli PM Netanyahu in Congress that americans have woken up to Hussein Obama and his selling out of western interests in order to put islamists into power in the arab world (under the guise of democracy). Congress isn't fooled by Obama who only a few days ago promoted his wish to dismember Israel, to make it defenceless against arab attack by forcing it back to the 1949 armistice lines. These lines would give the palestinians the strategic backbone of Israel, the heights overlooking its major population centers and airports, and leave almost the whole of Israel naked for further arab aggression against it.

Israel was forced to leave Gaza, withdraw its settlers from productive farms and let the palestinians have democratic elections. Hamas was elected and new elections are now two years overdue. Meanwhile 12,000 missiles have been fired at Israel. Only last month Hamas killed a boy after firing a guided missile at a school bus.
So Mr Obama, americans have woken up to you. Listen to congress and stop attacking Israel and redirect your attention at Syria, Iran, Hezbolla and Hamas. The islamists who would destroy western civilisation should be the target of US ire.

In a now mysterious interview published earlier this month in the London-based Arabic-language daily Al-Hayat, a spokesman for the North African branch of al-Qaeda appeared to confirm al-Qaeda involvement in the eastern Libyan rebellion. The North African branch of the terror organization is known as al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). The spokesman was identified as Salah Abu Muhammad.

According to the April 16th article in Al-Hayat, Salah Abu Muhammad claimed that AQIM had set up Islamic emirates in a series of eastern Libyan cities and he identified a certain “Sheikh Abdul-Hakim” as the ruling “emir” in the rebel stronghold of Darnah. The reference is presumably to rebel commander Abdul-Hakim al-Hasadi. At the outset of the rebellion in February, Libyan government sources claimed that al-Hasadi had declared an Islamic emirate in Darnah.

“Yes, we have Islamic emirates,” Salah Abu Muhammad was reported to have said, according to a translation prepared by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), “and we are not afraid [to say this], since we are not criminals. We fear Allah alone.” “We have emirates in Derna, Banghazi, Al-Bayda, Maraj and Shahat,” the quotation continues, “all of them glorious and proud, especially the emirate in Derna, whose emir is the honorable sheikh ‘Abd Al-Hakim, who founded an Islamic council in his town together with his brothers in order to rule according to Allah’s law.”


The remarks received little attention in the American or European media. (One exception was a post on the American Thinker blog by Jack Cashill, who cited them in turn from a blog post by the French Middle East correspondent Georges Malbrunot.)

As reported by MEMRI’s Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor, one day after the appearance of the Al-Hayat article, AQIM issued a statement on jihadist websites denying that Salah Abu Muhammad had given an interview to the paper. The AQIM communiqué suggested that the published interview was the result of a plot hatched by Algerian intelligence.

Camille Tawil, the author of the Al-Hayat article, quickly fell into line, posting a laconic English-language retraction on his blog. “It seems I was tricked into doing a false interview with Mr. Salah Abu Mohammed, the AQIM spokesman,” Tawil wrote. “Mr. Salah has issued a denial, and I apologies [sic] to him. The interview is not true.”

The issue is not Pastor Terry Jones and burning the 'Holy' Koran but 'al Quran' inspired violence

Whilst I believe the burning the Koran was wrong and the threatening of doing it provocative it is necessary to understand pastor Jones' frustrations and why he felt the need for this stunt. Pastor Jones was trying to raise the profile of christians constantly under attack in moslem countries where freedom of religion, thought and expression is anathema. Such freedoms are vilified in the Koran and as such the pastor felt justified in raising the issue in this way in order to break the silence of the established church and western media. If western media were not complicit in suppressing references to the pogroms and murders of christians happening on a daily basis throughout the muslim world, even in the supposedly moderate regimes in Pakistan and Indonesia, then the Pastor would not have felt driven to this desperate act. It is notable that the media has totally ignored Pastor Jones' message regarding persecuted christians portraying him simply as a crank. He has been condmned for having caused riots in the muslim world.
We in the west rightly have little understanding for citizens who resort to violence in order to resolve their disputed yet we manage to absolve violent muslims of blame for their actions with the excuse that they were provoked. In a court of law provocation might be an argument for some mitigation of a sentence but not to declare a violent attacker innocent of his guilt.

What needs to be condemned is the fact that muslims in their own countries feel they may wrent their wrath on innocent victims whenever they feel outraged. Such behaviour is the law of the jungle and the very antithesis of civilisation. The west must put islamic countries on notice that spilling innocent christians' blood will not go unnoticed or be lightly forgiven. Mrs Clinton should be made to point out to countries like Indonesia and Pakistan that a child's life is every bit as holy as that of the 'holy' Koran and that the US and its allies will aid Christian communities under attack.

Why should we be surprised? The Palestinians celebrated in the streets when the twin towers fell. Palestinian arabs dealt in terror even before they had invented their nationality (Jordan was broken off by the British from mandatory Palestine in 1922 and it is there that palestinian national aspirations lie. The land west of the Jordan was intended for the jewish state and if only for security reasons must remain so).

In the days when 'palestinian' referred to jews living in the Land of Israel arabs living there never ceased their terror against jews. They were also less mealy mouthed then, claiming proudly that they had killed jews. It's only nowadays that they euphemistically refer to 'zionists' when they fire rockets indiscriminately at Israel. Their recent successes were the murder of a teenager after his school bus was hit by an anti-tank rocket. Last year a Thai worker was killed on a farm.

Arab terror in Israel dates back to the turn of the 20th century with the murder of jews peacefully farming their lands. In 1929 the jews of Safed and Hebron were massacred by their neighbours with whom they had thought they were on good terms. The jews living in those communities were not even zionists but traditional orthodox jews. This gives the lie that the arab hatred is for Israel and zionism rather than good old fashioned anti-semitism.

So just as the Palestinians celebrated the horrors of the twin towers and are al Qaida's most avid supporters ,Gaza is grieving today on the news of Bin Ladens death. The West should take note. A palestinian state is just another islamist waypost on the way to the caliphate.

Pope forgets about murdered and ethnically cleansed christians in easter message

The pope's easter message urged both sides in the Libyan conflict to protect civilians. It's strange that he prioritised this over christians suffering throughout the moslem world. He might spare a thought for the christian girls decapitated for 'blasphemy' by dogma crazed murderers high on religious bigotry Pictures of gruesome murders - Warning: the pictures are gruesome. He might spare a thought for the coptic demonstrators recently gunned down by the military shouting 'allah akbar'. The copts were objecting to the ejection from their church and newly built community center. It seems that such centers are 'provocative'.
The only place the established church ever shows its ire is where it's least needed, in condemning Israel when it defends itself from attack.

Just the other day an Israeli was gunned down by a Palestinian Authority policeman after according to spokesman Saib Erekat he was 'provocatively' attempting to pray at Joseph's tomb near Nablus. Why does Israel take this lying down? Just as muslims in Israel are allowed to pray without hindrance in their holy places, jews must assert their rights to do so without fear of being killed. The west must face down bigotry and intolerance by muslim fanatics or face ever increasing attacks.

In the West and Israel there is quite rightly zero tolerance for religious bigotry directed at muslims. The west that is so powerfully intervening in Libya to protect 'civilians' must demand that arab and muslim nations afford protections to christians, jews and other religions coming under their rule (as in Gaza with Hamas gunmen who fight out of uniform, the fighters in Libya also describe themselves as civilians. A ragtag bunch they may be, when holding a gun it is a travesty to allow them to describe themselves as 'civilians').

And let's not forget Iraq where thousands of American soldiers still serve and have died yet the christian community is being ethnically cleansed from there. Iraq is steadily becoming a satellite state of Iran whilst the US pretends to be helping set up a democracy there. And Afghanistan? The US has lost the war in Iraq and Afghanistan because it picked the wrong enemy. Sadam Hussein wasn't much of a threat to regional peace after the first Gulf War, but Iran is and is getting stronger using its Hezbollah proxy first to suppress the Lebanese democracy, and now to support the brutal Syrian state.

The US needs to stop trying to reform arab and muslim countries and to unabashedly protect western interests. State building has failed in Afghanistan, Iraq and will fail in Libya. The west must intervene to protect its own interests, and save its bombs for when it is atacked. It is madness to intervene in a civil war in Libya when Gadaffi was a cowed man, who had given up his nuclear ambitions and stopped his terror against the west, paid compensation, and was a bulwark against al-qaida. Democracy is a wonderful concept, but the islamists of Benghazi will most likely not be so democratic once they take power. NATO and the US should leave Libya alone. As usual, western intervention is going to make matters worse in this civil war.
