Israel's death wish continued........giving away the Golan

Of course this revelation that Netanyahu would have given Assad the Golan is politically timed to damage Netanyahu's chances of re-election. But it nevertheless worrying.

Now that we see just how much a peace treaty is worth to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, we must be pretty sure that Netanyahu would not give away strategic land again in exchange for a piece of paper which as in Morsy's words will be subject to re-negotiation. For Muhammad Morsy of Egypt the only value to the peace treaty with Israel is that terrorists will be able to fire at Israel from the Sinai at no cost to himself. As long as egyptian soldiers are not harmed by Hamas (Gazan MB) then he will be happy for terrorists to attack Israel. All this whilst egyptian forces remain inviolate,under the terms of the peace treaty. 

Of  course Morsy will plead that he needs more troops and tanks to re-arm the Sinai so as to clear out the place of terrorists. Israelis aren't anymore so stupid as to believe this. The only use for egyptian tanks in Sinai is to build up an offensive capacity there against Israel.



      
 









 We must not forget that Morsy only a month before his election screamed at his adoring crowd that Jihad is the only way. A deputy leader of the MB then said that Jerusalem would be liberated in the coming year. 



And today we have Mohammed Badie the "Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood" espousing that:

“the Zionists only understand force,” and that Arabs cannot hope to achieve justice from the Jews “through the corridors of the United Nations or through negotiations.”

The Muslim Brotherhood and associated islamist have a long list of grievances that can never, ever be satisfied. Even if they destroyed Israel the grievances would move onto neighbouring countries and the the West. And that's because the caliphate is at the core of their beliefs. Their language, in arabic only is violent. In English they recite their demands in terms of human rights, of racism against muslims, of islamophobia etc.

‘Zionists only understand the language of force and will not relent without duress,’ Badie continued. ‘This will only happen through holy Jihad, high sacrifices and all forms of resistance’

“The time has come for the Islamic nation to unite around one man for the sake of Jerusalem and Palestine,” Badie said. “The Jews have dominated the land, spread corruption on earth, spilled the blood of believers and in their actions profaned holy places, including their own.”

Barak will never change. Even when a Brotherhood tanks has its barrel aimed at his own house he'll still be in denial, will understand the palestinian arab suicide bomber, will understand arab 'grievances', will be only too willing to give away Israel's territory until its enemies can just coast down the road to victory.

I still try and believe that Netanyahu will protect Israel and will be prepared to draw Iran's nuclear teeth before it's too late. There does not seem to be any alternative than Netanyahu as there is no one of the calibre of a Jabotinsky, Begin or Ben Gurion around. Netanyahu unlike Barak has his heart in the right place, knows that our enemies do not want peace in exchange for land, but rather the defeat of Israel and its utter destruction. 
Were they to succeed there would be nothing left of Israel, it would go back to the desert, just as the farmlands and farm industries developed by the jews of Gush Katif before they were forced out of Gaza.

Israel must never again give away any land. Peace comes through strength, now giving away land, in making an already tiny land smaller. Giving away land invites attack. When Israel finally learns this, it will have peace, not before.

Report: Netanyahu agreed to full Golan Heights withdrawal

Yedioth Ahronoth reports that in late 2010 PM, Barak conducted secret indirect talks with Assad; US documents reveal Israel agreed to return to June 4, 1967 lines in exchange for peace deal; negotiations were interrupted by uprising against Syrian president

The onset of the rebellion against Bashar Assad in January 2011 interrupted intense negotiations between the Syrian president and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the latter agreed to a full Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights in exchange for a peace agreement, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Friday.

In the spring of 2010, Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak launched secret indirect negotiations with Assad through American mediator Frederick Hoff, a former commander in the Marines and an expert on border demarcation in disputed areas.

Earlier this week Hoff resigned from his post as special US envoy to the Middle East. According to the Yedioth Ahronoth report, documents written by Hoff suggest that the negotiations were based on Netanyahu's willingness to return to the June 4, 1967 lines, giving Damascus full control of the entire Golan Heights area. Israel captured the territory in the 1967 Mideast war.

American businessman and Netanyahu associate Ronald Lauder reportedly negotiated a similar deal in 1998, during Netanyahu's first term as premier. At the time, Netanyahu denied that claim.

Netanyahu's successor, Ehud Barak, also offered a Golan withdrawal for peace, but the talks failed.

According to American sources, Netanyahu and Barak agreed to withdraw to the 1967 lines in exchange for a comprehensive peace deal that would include an Israeli "expectation" for the severing of ties between Syria and Iran. However, the sources said, the burgeoning deal did not include an explicit commitment by Assad to severe ties with the Islamic Republic.

The report said the sides did not agree on a timeline for the Israeli withdrawal: Syria wanted the agreement to be implemented within one and a half to two years, while Israel asked for more time before pulling out of the region.

Yedioth quoted a senior American official as saying that the negotiations were serious and far-reaching and would have likely ended with an agreement had they not been interrupted by the uprising against Assad. The official estimated that Netanyahu resumed the talks with Assad to justify the stalemate in the negotiations with the Palestinians and because he viewed Syria as the weak link in the so called "axis of evil," which also includes Iran, Lebanon and Hezbollah.

According to the documents written by Hoff, the discussions were held at the prime minister's official residence in Jerusalem. Netanyahu and Barak kept the talks a secret, but in early 2011 a Kuwaiti newspaper reported that special US envoy Dennis Ross met Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem and said that Damascus was willing to resume talks with Israel and that the Jewish state was willing to return the Golan Heights. The Prime Minister's Office denied the report.

What better candidate could the USA have to represent itself at a human rights conference?

 If there is one act which exemplifies just how rotten the Obama administration is, it is the cynical appointment of a man who blamed jews for 9/11, who has praised Hamas and Hizbollah to represent the US at the OSCE human rights conference. I eagerly await the American People's verdict on this disastrous and racist president, a man who has done more than anything to roll back civilisation in the middle east and the respect for the cause of human rights throughout the world.

Obama sends arms via islamist Turkey to support the Muslim Brotherhood's agents in Syria, has brought the MB to power in place of an ally. The MB is responsible for the lethal attacks on christians throughout the muslim world. Just as the established churches have no interest in saving their brethren (saving their animus and influence for attacks on Israel) the US government cheers on its detractors. Last week Congress hesitated to sign off on an Obama request to throw another 1/2 billion dollars into the  lap of the Muslim Brotherhood after it ransacked the US embassy in Cairo.
The Chinese are also laughing at the US whilst rattling war drums and occupying islands throughout South East Asia. The US might sail its aircraft carriers into the Persian Gulf and down the South China Sea but none of its enemies loses any sleep over it. They are laughing whilst Obama plays at gunboat diplomacy. He knows what he is doing is just a sop to public opinion and the USA's enemies also know it. The US rebalancing into asia has not deterred China one iota from its beligerent actions against Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Obama has done so much to the defence of democracies and of human civilisation, has undermined human rights so much in recent years that it is only fitting that he sends a racist, a liar and an islamist to represent the USA. Muhammad Morsy could not have proposed a better candidate.

It would be inconceivable for Barack Obama to appoint a man who had praised the Ku Klux Klan to a commission discussing race relations; what he has actually done, however, is all too predictable. Obama has appointed a man who has praised Hamas and Hizballah, and blamed Israel for 9/11, to be the United States’ representative at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s (OSCE) annual 10-day human rights conference, the Human Dimension Implementation Meetings (HDIM).

The Obama State Department is sending Salam al-Marayati, founder and executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), to the OSCE conference. The foremost problem with this appointment is that al-Marayati was one of the first 9/11 truthers out of the box, ready with an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory on the very day of the attacks. On September 11, 2001, al-Marayati appeared on a radio show in Los Angeles to discuss the jihad attacks in New York and Washington, and said: “If we’re going to look at suspects, we should look to the groups that benefit the most from these kinds of incidents, and I think we should put the state of Israel on the suspect list because I think this diverts attention from what’s happening in the Palestinian territories so that they can go on with their aggression and occupation and apartheid policies.”
These remarks are not anomalous for al-Marayati, who has claimed that the jihad terrorist group Hizballah is working for “liberation and resistance,” and has refused to call it a terrorist group. Likewise, al-Marayati has said optimistically that Hizballah’s Sunni counterpart Hamas will eventually gain acceptance:

Yesterday’s terrorists in the Middle East are today’s leaders. The PLO is the number one example of this. … The PLO 35 years ago was considered a terrorist organization, nobody should deal with them. … But they became the people in authority, in Palestine, today. So Hamas today, the way it’s being viewed, is exactly how the PLO was viewed 30 years ago. And in fact, even Hamas in terms of its social and educational operations is doing exactly what the PLO was doing 35 years ago, as well as its quote unquote military operations.

Understandably, Jewish groups are unhappy with the appointment. Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, declared:
One would assume that individuals selected to represent the United States at an international human rights conclave would share our government’s longstanding policy that Hamas and Hezbollah are dangerous terrorist organizations. But Mr. Salam al-Marayati and his organization are long-time advocates that these deadly terror groups be removed from the U.S. terrorist list.

Love from the Christian Embassy, and SSPX given the boot

 The outpouring of love from christian groups from all over the world is a breath of fresh air, giving hope that one day the old hatreds found in the Catholic Church, and as promoted nowadays by the Anglican World Council of Churches in the guise of caring for arabs will dissolve. Whatever, we have to thank those christians who find it in our hearts not only to love the Jewish People from whose religion theirs sprang, but who work tirelessly on behalf of the beleagured Jewish State.

The other good news is that sense has prevailed in the Catholic Church with Pope Benedict realising that the anti-semitic, Holocaust denying priests of the Society of St. Pius X are too extreme to be reabsorbed. Having the SSPX back inside would have dealt a harsh blow to Catholic-Jewish relations, not excellent at the best of times.

The SSPX are similar to a neo-nazi or islamist party which can never be absorbed into the democratic system as they are duty bound to undermine it. When they gain any power they subvert and rot the system from within. The SSPX left over the provisions of Vatican II and its cancelling the doctrinal anti-semitism most notably the charge of 'deicide' that led to so much jewish suffering over the years (I myself was beaten up as a youth for having "killed Christ". I didn't take the beating without fighting back, but one against a group of five was somewhat heavy odds).

The impossibility of the return of SSPX was finally recognised by Gerhard Ludwig Mueller head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (the Inquisition which Cardinal Ratzinger, Pope Benedict ran formerly). For sound reasons of its own the Vatican was unable to allow the SSPX back into the fold.

Whether this makes any difference in the Catholic Church's attitude to Israel is moot. Popes friendly to jews such as John Paul II, who had personally witnessed where anti-semitism led are not frequently to be seen. The present pope it must be remembered whilst not known for his warmth is no adversary of the Jewish People. We can't expect that Pope Benedict to be cast in the type of the late and much lamented JPII.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican’s new doctrine czar says negotiations to bring back a breakaway group of traditionalist Catholics are dead and that no new talks are planned.

Reconciling with the Society of St. Pius X — thus ending the only formal schism created since the 1962-65 Second Vatican Council — had been a priority of Pope Benedict XVI since his tenure heading the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

The Society has come under fire for views seen as anti-Semitic and for one bishop who has publicly denied that Jews were killed in gas chambers during the Holocaust.

Monsignor Gerhard Ludwig Mueller, who now leads the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, told Germany’s Norddeutscher Rundfunk broadcaster, however, that “the talks are closed and I don’t believe there are new ones.”

“We couldn’t of course expose the Catholic faith to negotiation,” he said. “There are no compromises.’

The late Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre founded the society in 1969, opposed to Vatican II’s introduction of Mass in the vernacular and outreach to Jews. In 1988, the Vatican excommunicated Lefebvre and four bishops after he consecrated them without papal consent.

Benedict has spent nearly his entire seven-year pontificate seeking to accommodate the society, restoring the use of the old Latin Mass favored by the society’s members, removing the bishops’ excommunications and allowing them two years of theological dialogue with the Vatican.

Aside from being sympathetic to the society’s point of view, Benedict fears the growth of a parallel church that is even more conservative than his own.

But the society, which boasts 550 priests and 200-plus seminarians, refused to sign off on a core set of doctrinal points required by the Vatican to come back into the fold.

“The brotherhood for us is not a negotiating partner, because they don’t believe in negotiations,” Mueller said. 

The society’s most notorious member is Bishop Richard Williamson, who made headlines in 2009 when he denied that any Jews were killed in gas chambers during the Holocaust. His comments were a major scandal for Benedict since they were broadcast on the same day the decree lifting Williamson’s excommunication was signed.

Israeli police should stop harassing the Judea and Samaria community

This latest incident in Yesha should give comfort to Israel's enemies. It seems to confirm reports I have heard many times in the past that the police in Judea and Samaria act against the interests of the communities they are supposed to be protecting. 

With the frequent attempts by palestinian arabs to infiltrate jewish villages to carry out attacks, the slaughter of the Fogel family was not unique other than by the fiendish success of the attack. Shepherds are one of the ways in which the intelligence is gained by arabs of weak points of entry in preparation for an attack on a jewish community.  So it is understandable that those who care about their security do not want arab shepherds getting close to their communities and families.

Here the police posed as shepherds and came provocatively close to the jewish village. It is acceptable in law that if you feel threatened or if there is an intruder on your land to use reasonable force to remove the threat. Before force was applied the 'shepherds' were quite reasonably asked to leave the area.

It is outrageous that those protecting their land were arrested and are still being held on remand.
Sadly there are those in Israel who still, even after the Gaza retreat debacle who see the jews of Yesha as a threat to peace rather than protecting the peace of Israel along the whole length of the coastal strip, the Shephela. Were the jewish communities of Yesha not living on the ovelooking heights, Tel-Aviv and Haifa would come under regular rocket attack.

 Suspicion: Settlers attacked cops posing as Palestinian shepherds

Undercover officers beaten by Jewish settlers with clubs after approaching farm they were staying in. Legal aid group: Police treats settlers like worst enemies

Three young Jewish settlers are suspected of attacking undercover police officers who were posing as Palestinian shepherds. One officer was injured in the incident.

According to police, the suspects punched the officers and attacked them with clubs because they assumed they were Arabs approaching the farm they were staying in. The Mount Sinai farm is located in the south Mount Hebron area.

On Sunday the Jerusalem District Court extended the suspects' remand until Tuesday. An indictment is expected to be filed in the coming days. A fourth suspect is still at large.

The volatile south Mount Hebron area has seen a number of clashes between settlers and Palestinians as of late. As part of the effort to apprehend some of the attackers, last week police officers disguised as Palestinian shepherds approached the Mount Sinai farm. According to the police, one of the suspects walked over to the undercover officers and told them they must leave the property immediately. When they did not comply, the suspect alerted his friends. The friends, who were masked and equipped with clubs, proceeded to attack the police officers. At some point the officers identified themselves and arrested the assailants, apart from one who managed to escape.

 During Sunday's court hearing the police representative said the officers did not provoke the suspects, who claimed they mistook the officers for terrorists.

The suspects further claimed that before attacking the undercover officers they turned to the army and police and asked that they clear the "shepherds" from the property. When no one showed up, the suspects claimed, they were forced to take matters into their own hands.

Judge Dov Pollock was not convinced and extended their remand, saying the suspects may be dangerous.

Honenu, an "Israeli Zionist" legal aid organization, which is handling the case on the suspects' behalf, said police are "continuing to treat the residents of the West Bank as though they are enemies and are employing against them means that are used against our worst enemies."

Finally a BBC report to savour

I never thought I could thank the BBC for a news item, but their report on the US 'supermax' prisons have left this opponent of the death penalty even more convinced that civilized countries should not execute prisoners. A great country like the USA must rise above killing its prisoners.

Okay I can't always follow my convictions. Those who went after nazi murderers of the Holocaust after WWII executing those they came across were justified. Likewise the putting down of the unbelievably brutal murderers of the Fogel family who smiled and joked in court when their crimes were put to them would be fitting. They cruelly killed a whole family in Itamar, slitting a baby's throat. Similarly that other child murderer Kuntar who smashed the head of a 3 year old girl on a rock after killing her parents. They should be put down like the crazed animals they are.
Reflecting the state of civilization in the arab world, Kuntar is feted as a hero, and of course visited in his new Lebanese home, hugged and kissed by that great peace partner palestinian arab president Abbas. Kuntar was released in the Gilad Shalit swap. Such people must never be released but treated as in the USA. Once swallowed by the USA 'correction' system,  you remain digested until Uncle Sam decides to puke you out. I'm glad i'm not the prison warder who had to unlock Kuntar's cell, as I believe I would have been tempted to empty a gun into his satanic head.

So, apart from such exceptions i'm against killing prisoners, as long as you can be sure they will receive the prison sentence allotted by the court, something that is never certain in Israel where the majority of arab mass murderers and torturers of innocents have been freed in one deal or another.

The BBC has now explained just why four notorious islamist murderers and propagandists of jihad in the UK were so loathe to be extradited to the USA. Until now I couldn't understand, but for those who 'love death' as much as we value life, it's easy to understand why a US prison is the ultimate horror. 

The US Supermax prisons do seem a living hell. The BBC tries its best to show just how bad they are to evoke public sympathy out of the British reader and anger at the USA. But the BBC liberal collaborators of the jihad nightmare don't understand that the British are heartily sick of these parasites. A typical route for a jihadi was to claim asylum in the UK after causing trouble back home, and then expecting the ever patient British taxpayer to fund his jihadi lifestyle for him and his family through the benefits system. They never dreamed of thanking the humanistic system that gave them refuge, but plotted how to undermine it, along with the Saudi Arabian wahabite preachers who indoctrinate young minds all over Britain and the rest of the world with their poison.

It was nice to see that the European Court of Justice agreed with the British courts that the Supermax was not inhumane, considering the dangers that Abu Hamza and his merry men pose to society.

I'm sure that US justice now having caught up with these animals will after their trial deliver them safely to their new home where they will  have all the quiet study time they need to learn the koran. I think the real torture will be not being allowed to watch snuff videos of American and British soldiers being blown up. No Jihadist pornography and not even being allowed to take one of the four wives along to keep the cell clean and administer to all the other needs of an honorable jihadist.

So my very best wishes to Abu H. who appeared in court without his prosthetic hook. The poor fellow can chalk that up as another humiliation and insult to islam whilst he's peeking at the sky through his slit of a window.
And rather than counting sheep to get to sleep at night, he will be able to count up to 72, over and over again.
Best thing of all is, islam doesn't allow suicide, so there really is no way out for these Allah fearing gentlemen.

Just how bad are American 'supermax' prisons?

No inmate has ever escaped from an ADX prison

The European Court of Human Rights has rejected arguments by Babar Ahmad and three other terror suspects that they could face ill treatment in a "supermax" American high-security prison.

But what is life like in the "Alcatraz of the Rockies" and why was the court not convinced?
The Administrative Maximum facility (ADX), or "supermax" prison in Florence, Colorado, holds some of the most notorious American terrorists and murderers in solitary confinement.
The prison is home to about 360 inmates held under ultra-high security.
It is here, the suspects argued, they could end up if found guilty of terrorism in the US.
High-profile terrorists
But the European Court of Human Rights found that a life sentence in the prison would be justified.

Supermax prisoner's story

"Extreme solitary confinement and reduced environmental stimulation" is how Thomas Silverstein, a convicted multiple murder, has described conditions at the Supermax prison.
In a 2007 lawsuit challenging the conditions of his imprisonment, Silverstein said he was subject to 24-hour surveillance, locked in an 8.5ft by 10ft cell for as many as 23 hours a day, and took meals and exercised alone.

The cells in "Z-Unit" - a special segregation unit - contained a bed with metal restraint rings, a sink, toilet and shower.

One had a mirror, cement walls and a small window he could only see out of when he stood on his desk. The other cell had no mirror - only a small window covered in mesh and painted over, he said.
Silverstein, 60, had been convicted of murdering another prisoner at a maximum security prison in Illinois. He said he exercised an hour a day by himself in 10ft by 10ft "dog-kennel-like" cement yard attached to his cell.
He said he was "entombed" by a sound-proof door that prevented him from talking to other inmates, and in any case he was barred from contacting other inmates.

The conditions, he said, caused depression, hallucination, disorientation and memory loss.
He said the damage went "beyond the boundaries of what most human beings can psychologically tolerate".

According to the court: "If the applicants were convicted as charged, the US authorities would be justified in considering them a significant security risk and in imposing strict limitations on their ability to communicate with the outside world."

Based on evidence from the US Department of Justice and statements from the American prison, the court said conditions in the jail would not breach human rights.
The prison, known for its high-profile inmates, small cells and restrictions on contact with the outside world, has an infamous international reputation: mainly because of its policy of holding its inmates in almost permanent solitary confinement.

The facility, 108 miles (173km) from Denver, holds convicted terrorists, militant anti-government extremists, gangsters, and other criminals considered so violent and dangerous mere maximum-security prison is not safe enough.

"We have only the most violent, disruptive and escape-prone inmates in the federal system," says Mark Collins, a spokesman for the prison.
Most of the prisoners are locked in spartan, 87-sq ft (8-sq m) cells; those under the strictest conditions are allowed out for as little as an hour a day, Mr Collins says.

Contact with other human beings is strictly limited - mostly to prison guards, counsellors and other staff.
Inmates who follow the rules can be rewarded with further time out of their cells and more opportunities to interact with other prisoners, Mr Collins says.

 

The prison is remote and isolated from the outside world But current and former inmates, lawyers and others familiar with the prison describe it as an infernal environment in which even the design of the cells and the architecture of the prison conspire to render the inmates docile and drive them mad.

"People talk about it as being a cleaner version of hell," says Colin Dayan, a professor of English at Vanderbilt University and author of The Law Is a White Dog: How Legal Rituals Make and Unmake Persons, who has studied high security prisons in the US.

"It's immaculate. It's no black hole. It's not your typical sense of the hole of solitary confinement. You are staring upon nothingness: Concrete all the time. The architecture itself is the form of the torture."

It is this reputation that lawyers for Babar Ahmad, Syed Tahla Ahsan, Adel Abdul Bary and Khaled Al-Fawwaz used in their defence.
According to the court, US Authorities would consider it impossible to detain Abu Hamza, the fifth suspect, at the supermax prison "because of his disabilities (particularly the amputation of his forearms)".
Lawyers for the other four suspects argued that the tough prison conditions would amount to "inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment", under the Human Rights Act.
Last week Babar Ahmad told the BBC: "I am facing extradition to the United States and spending the rest of my life in solitary confinement."
But the court's judgement said that the facilities for prisoners, including television, radio, newspapers, books and telephone calls, "went beyond what was provided in most prisons in Europe".
'Horrifying cases' In its ruling the court pointed out that "not all inmates convicted of international terrorism were housed at ADX". The judgement said "procedural safeguards" are in place for prisoners and that they can bring claims to the attention of US authorities.

But Dr Sharon Shalev, a criminologist at the London School of Economics, who has visited American high-security facilities, said: "Supermax prisons are very extreme. I have a feeling the courts don't realise how extreme they are. I've yet to see a European prison as extreme.

"Prisoners spend most of the day inside a small cell with no view and no contact with other humans. Everything is done from inside the cell.
"Even during medical treatment doctors stand at the gate of the cell. American authorities would have you believe this is meaningful human contact."

Dr Shalev said she had seen "horrifying cases" of people who went into prison sane, but ended up self-harming and attempting suicide as a result of solitary confinement.

Ray Luc Levasseur, a former inmate at ADX Florence Penitentiary in Colorado, told the Today programme: "It doesn't always stop with damage... it doesn't always have to stop with the mind.
"It can move on into degrading your soul, your spirit. And a prisoner who's been damaged like this - from point of view of the prison wardens - that prisoner is more controllable, more manageable."

The Jerusalem Post must stop disseminating anti-Israel propaganda

The Jerusalem Post used to be a paper with reports that one could trust were factual and written by those who had Israel's interests at heart, even if their views were critical and left of centre. Plurality of opinion is of course important in the Jewish State's newspaper of record. However you would not in the past find arab propaganda masquerading as genuine reports in the Jerusalem Post. That is no longer the case.

JP publishes a plethora of syndicated material from organizations such as Reuters placed without comment as written. They are overwhelmingly written from a pro palestinian and anti Israel viewpoint. Such articles fill space but are inappropriate in a newspaper that is broadly pro Israel.

In the last couple of days two such items of planted propaganda have appeared in the Post. One was initiated by the NIF under its false flag identity as 'Tag Meir', having purported 'orthodox jews' provide the rabidly anti-Israel and terror excusing Fransciscans with a mea culpa. They accepted on behalf of the wider jewish community that the latest daubings on the Dormition Abbey were the work of jews and went to grab a photo oppotunity for their anti-Israel cause. Journalist Jeremy Sharon might have thought twice about allowing himself to be used as a 'useful idiot' by the NIF. 

The latest piece of propaganda was written by no 'useful idiot' but a veteran anti-Israel activist journalist Linda Gradstein attacking Israel's intention to extend the security barrier crossing the arab village which is near to the jewish village of Beitar. 

That enemy citizens are upset by the project is obvious. Anything that gets in the way of destroying Israel is for them to be condemned. Gradstein does not acknowledge the terror aspect whereby from 2001 until the barrier was built thousands of Israeli civilians were being blasted apart by arab bombs placed in markets, hotels, coffee bars and night clubs, even a passover celebration for pensioners. No mention is made of the hundreds of attempted attacks on Israelis every month from Palestinians in Judea and Samaria. In Gradstein's article terror is mentioned in passing, by a suffering arab to negate this argument:

“It will be a prison here,” he says angrily. “The Israelis want me to leave my land but I refuse to. They say it’s for security – what security do they need here?” He said that in the past ten years there has been one terror attack in the area.

And when referring to an IDF statement Gradstein mentions only the relatively anodyne "Palestinian attackers" who could be anyone, stone throwers as seen on TV. The really lethal knifings and pipe bombing attacks which are constantly being prevented she does not mention.
This argument about no attacks at the moment is the same argument detractors used against France's after World War I building the defensive Maginot line to prevent new German aggression. Of course the attacks came, but the Linda Gradsteins of those days had made sure that the line was useless. For diplomatic reasons the Line was not extended along the Belgian border. The Germans just went around it in the north.


And the reason why there has only been one successful attack from the Battir area for a while with no security barrier there is that Israel has maintained heightened security precautions and patrols to make up for the lack of one. That only one attack on Israel succeeded is testimony to IDF vigilance and operations, not its arab enemies lack of will to perpetrate them.

The barrier has been slowly erected as an answer to the massive wave of suicide bombing from 2001 onwards. Along with Operation Defensive Shield the barrier has helped defeat the infiltration of suicide bombers into Israel from Palestinian Authority controlled territories.

Instead Linda Gradstein dedicates her article explaining how arabs will be affected, depicting arabs as indigenous inhabitants whose 'ancient farming traditions' are under threat. She goes into overdrive when describing Palestinian arabs as having a 2,000 year history. The overwhelming number of arabs are not indigenous but newcomers to the land, witness there being no palestinian arab family having as surname 'Palestini'. There are however many surnames denoting foreign origin such as Masri (Egyptian) and Shamsy (Damascene).

Gradstein repeats all the tropes about vineyards and olive groves and even of ancient terraces tended by their loving and caring indigenous people, the palestinians of course. She can not resist bringing in the word 'apartheid' in relation to the barrier even though the BBC itself no friend of Israel is nowadays wary of using this disgusting term that in no way applies to Israel or the security barrier.

Gradstein is not an unknown journalist. She has a record of misreporting events with thinly disguised attacks on Israel.

So the question is, why does the Jerusalem Post post articles by this journalist working as propagandist for arabs?

Jewish advertisers should begin to think about supporting sites such as Arutz 7 (admittedly sometimes something of a belts and braces affair), or Israel Hayom rather than the Jerusalem Post.

Even Ynetnews seems better than the constant spoon feeding of arab propaganda now dished up by the JP.

Understanding that arabs and all minorities have rights in Israel is one thing, and which I support (as long as they do not participate in terror attacks or inflammatory propaganda against Israel such as that of the Northern Islamic group of islamists led by Raed Saleh), but journalists such as Gradstein knowingly peddling deceptive enemy propaganda (both of the above journalists are not innocents abroad, they know the issues) in order to gain enemy coin should mean that they are not welcome in loyal Israeli publications.

I would much rather read the odd article by Raed Saleh, Abu Hamza or Tewfik Toubi in the Jerusalem Post than articles by dishonest journalists. At least then we know who we are dealing with, whether their arguments are valid or not. 

With the publishing of an NIF anti-Israel attack in league with the rabidly anti-Israel Catholic Franciscan Order means that the JP has crossed the line.

West Bank barrier could damage Roman Aqueduct

“Each family here gets water one day a week, but the week lasts eight days since there are eight families,” Kayan Manasra, the Palestinian Coordinator of Friends of the Earth Middle East (FOEME), a joint Israeli-Palestinian-Jordanian NGO, told The Media Line.

“There are 13 springs and seven are still in use. We farm here the same way we are doing for thousands of years.”

Battir, with its 6,000 residents is in Area B of the West Bank, meaning that Palestinians provide municipal services such as garbage pickup but Israel is responsible for security.

Most crops are grown on terraces -- small plots surrounded by stone walls on the slopes of the hill. Conservationists say the farming methods are the same as those used in ancient times. Residents here are hoping that the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will designate the village a World Heritage Site. Earlier this year, UNESCO gave Battir the Melina Mercouri International Prize for the Safeguarding and Management of Cultural Landscapes.

Battir also has a Jewish connection. Once a Jewish village, it was the site of the defeat of a Jewish revolt against the Romans led by Bar Kokhba in the Second Century. Archaeological artifacts show the site was inhabited since the Iron Age. Today, some 4,000 residents live mostly by farming.

Now, they fear that Israel is about to construct the barrier it is building in and around the West Bank right through the village lands, which some fear could end this way of farming.

“The barrier will disconnect part of the farming lands from their owners and disturb the landscape,” Gilat Bartana of FOEME, told The Media Line. “An appeal against the barrier was rejected so building could start anytime soon.”

Building the barrier has already begun in the neighboring village of Wallaje. The Israeli Supreme Court rejected several appeals and the planned route of the barrier will completely surround the village. Omar Hajableh, 47, told The Media Line that the barrier will run very close to his house on the outskirts of the village. He says he will not be able to reach his 450 olive trees.

“It will be a prison here,” he says angrily. “The Israelis want me to leave my land but I refuse to. They say it’s for security – what security do they need here?” He said that in the past ten years there has been one terror attack in the area. Hajableh also said that Israeli officials told him would build a special agricultural gate in the barrier to enable him to reach his farmland. Hajableh says this is not a solution.

“They said I can cross in twice a year to farm my land,” he said. “I work alone. I can’t take care of even one tree, let alone 450. They are simply trying to find a way to take the land.”

Israeli officials defend the route of the separation barrier, which Israel calls a “security fence” and Palestinians an “apartheid wall.”

In a statement, the Defense Ministry said the route of the barrier is based only on security considerations and Israel tries to minimize the damage to the Palestinians. They say the numbers speak for itself, that the construction of the barrier has made a major contribution to Israel’s security, and that Palestinian attackers have not been able to enter Israel since it was erected. The barrier costs an estimated $1.4 million dollars per mile to build. Some 90 percent of it is a fence with trenches on both sides, while ten percent, in heavily populated areas, is a 26-foot high concrete barricade.

Part of the barrier runs along the so-called “Green Line”, the demarcation line between Israel and the West Bank that was agreed to in the 1949 armistice agreements, but part also dips into the West Bank. The Israeli human rights group B’tselem says the barrier effectively annexes 8.5 percent of the West Bank to Israel, by keeping that land on the Israeli side of the barrier.

Back in Battir, the view from the top of the hill is breathtaking. A donkey ambles by, led by a farmer on the way to his plot. Palestinians here say they fear that the Israeli bulldozers will come, and permanently change their way of life.

Peddling the lie that Egypt won the Yom Kippur War. Who cares?

Mohammed Haikel wrote a book about how Egypt 'almost' won the 1973 war. No Egyptian who speaks only arabic will have a clue that Egypt lost that war soundly, and was on its knees begging for Israel not to destroy its 2nd and 3rd armies surrounded in Sinai. This was whilst Ariel Sharon's troops were advancing everywhere on the West Bank of the Suez. There were no Egyptian forces between Sharon and Cairo. 

Now al Ahram deceptively talks about the victory on the first day of the war, forgetting that wars are not won on the first day, or Hitler might still be making his speeches from the Kremlin or Westminster Parliament! Surely al Ahram's readers aren't so gullible? Or are they just so eaten up by hate of Israel that they read what they want to read without bringing their grey cells into play?

As ever the USA intervened to stop an arab country being humiliated. One must never allow humiliation of arabs who kill jews and wish to destroy Israel. Time and again the USA has stopped Israel from delivering the coup de grace.

So what you ask, a bit of humanity doesn't harm?

Ordinarily yes, but as we saw with Germany in World War I, not in the arab world. Humanity doesn't exist there and it is not understood. Humanity is interpreted as a sign of weakness, allowing a repeat performance at a later date. 

Leaving the German army intact on its borders along with its imperialstic ambitions, with generals in charge who still had dreams of the Greater German Reich, allowed the scene for World War II to be set. The lie of the 'Dolchstoss', the Jewish 'stab in the back' by the Labour Ebert government which signed the Peace of Versailles allowed germans to believe that their dream of an empire and hegemony in europe had been stolen from them (The conditions of Versailles did not lead to WWII. Although its harsh conditions might have contributed to their wish for another attempt at achieving what they couldn't in WWI, German racism and imperialism were the solid foundations of the Second World War. As far as the Holocaust went, slavery and genocide was a theory that had been developed and practised already before WWI in Namibia on the Herero tribe).

The allies understanding the reasons for the German wars since Frederick The Great and Bismark knew that the German 'Total War' of WWII had to end in total defeat. An unconditional surrender was the only option offered by the allies. The Germans themselves had to be defeated and be seen by their own people to have been defeated in such a manner that no new Hitler could  come along and whip germans up for a new round of war and destruction. No German can fail to notice the odd building in Hamburg, Dresden or Berlin that was not destroyed. Those cities have few old buildings. Germany's defeat is written in stone and can not be denied (unlike the Holocaust of which Iran is the leading denier nowadays). After WWII no German family was complete. They had all lost someonethey loved in the war.

Germans had to themselves lose millions of people in war and destruction before they lost their appetite for 'glorious' war. Whilst German armies were marching forwards in the early days Germans had cheered on their armies not caring about the death and destruction delivered in europe. The german genocidal wish to kill, conquer and to expand needed to be driven out of them and it was through army losses and allied 1,000 bomber raids night after night. German armies had dealt out terror and Germany needed to taste the terror of war before they would learn to loathe it. 

And that is why the Germans are the world's most pacific people today. Germans hate war, any war, even a just one to protect yourself. That's good as there is something about that part of the world. If you read about the witch burnings of past centuries, you will notice that it was in Germany and Poland of the 16th and 17th centuries where most witch burning massacres of unfortunate women took place.

Arabs are no less possessed of a genocidal wish, with the honorable exception of Maikel Nabil and some others, to kill jews and destroy the State of Israel. And the Muslim Brotherhood and its like minded confederates the Salafists look forwards to establishing their caliphate throughout the middle east, if not the world. Memri and Palwatch sites which translate media from the arab and muslim world are chock full of examples of the worst anti-semitic theories and beliefs and of genocidal statements by muslim leaders, clerics and opinion formers.

There is a deep desire sourced in the Koran to kill jews when they can't be oppreseed and subjugated. Even before Israel's inception the cry went out in arab countries to kill jews. And their has been throughout the last hundred years constant war and terror waged against Israel, not because of anything has supposedly done to arabs but out of a wish to destroy that country. This wish is usually tinged with a belief that the islamic caliphate can only arise once Israel is destroyed.

And in arab media arab armies win their wars against Israel. When arab countries continue to 'win' their wars however, their peoples just like 1930's Germans in europe, can't understand why Israel is still in being? Surely the only answer is to have another war and finally get 'justice' for themselves? According to their way of thinking, if Israel keeps losing its wars, it can only be the USA and corrupt rulers that are responsible for keeping Israel alive. Which means there will be another round, and another, and Israel and the West, especially Israel as it is on the front line, will never get any peace from islamic imperialism, wars and associated terror.

Israel should have ignored US pleas in 1973 not to finish the Yom Kippur War decisively. Israel's forbearance and reluctance to kill its enemies who were defeated but would not surrender have now rebounded on it with the election of bitter foes of western civilization to power in Egypt. 
Israel's humanity in sending water and food through to the egyptian armies did not lead to the peace agreement, but to the coming war which Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood is determined to wage against it. 

The constant refrain from Egypt is to tear up the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty which Israel paid for with the whole of the Sinai desert, with its gas and oil fields discovered by Israel and its Israeli developed tourist areas of Sharm el Sheikh and Nuweiba.

But the MB is not interested in its economy. It has let the oil pipeline be destroyed by terrorists losing billions of dollars that it can't afford to lose so that it could renege on a supply agreement with Israel. That Jordan which received gas from the same pipeline also suffers is not important. Egypt is going around the IMF and europe and the arab world to get crumbs when it has oil and gas lying under the ground, if only it would deliver it to Israel. That it will not do, but instead allows terror to thrive in Sinai.

In the coming war Israel must learn the lessons of history. Only a war in which the lesson are 100% clear, where the enemy suffers the penalty for its aggression, will Israel have peace and be safe. The arab world often solves its problems by making war on Israel, and an unacceptable cost of so doing will be the only reason that future aggressors will be deterred.

Israel should let it be known that in any future war against it by Egypt the Sinai will be forever forfeit (It was never Egyptian, only being acquired last century as a gift by Britain in its dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire), and that the Aswan dam will be destroyed. If Israel decides to fight the islamists on their own terms, even Egyptian islamists will have pause for thought. Unlike Iran with its nuclear program, they can't put the dam and its water safely underground. By this one stated intention (not necessarily public but it can be made through diplomatic and media channels) Israel's enemies will be deterred and the coming war avoided.

Egyptian blogger and staunch military critic Maikel Nabil said those who died during Egypt's 1973 war with Israel were not martyrs and should not be celebrated, in a controversial tweet on the 39th anniversary of the historic event, Saturday. 

"The soldier who dies in war is not a martyr," Nabil said on the micro-blogging website, "he is just a potential killer who is out to put down people he does not know. No commemoration for killers."

On 6 October 1973, the Egyptian army defeated its Israeli counterpart, an achievement which later instigated the liberation of the Sinai ‎Peninsula that had been occupied by Israel for six years.

Every year, Egyptians ‎commemorate the day, which is considered to be an  important historic victory.

Nabil is renowned for his criticism of the Egyptian military and positive stance on Israel.
He was arrested in March 2011 and jailed for 10 months on charges of insulting the armed forces after writing a blog post entitled “The army and the people were never one hand,” one month after the military junta assumed power.
Nabil, who strongly opposed the interim military rule, was initially handed a sentence of three years in prison, which was reduced to two years following a retrial.
He went on hunger strike in August 2011, consuming only juice and milk. This escalated on 18 December when he refused all forms of nourishment before ending his strike on 31 December.
Nabil was freed just ahead of the January 25 Revolution’s first anniversary after former field marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi absolved him.

Update from Syria: Rebels have gained ground but overall stalemate

Barry Rubin has interviewed Jonathan Spyer on PJ Media who has returned from Syria. In it Syper compares this trip with that at the beginning of the year and  says that whereas it was dangerous to cross the border from Turkey then, it can now be done openly with ease, although Syria still controls the skies.
He also says that Saudi financed armed groups in Syria are not effective:

In general, the Saudi record suggests that Riyadh is good at creating terror organizations, less good at creating effective military groups. I think this is borne out in the Syrian context.

  Worryingly his impressions of the Muslim Brotherhood contingent are different:

They are well-armed, well-equipped, and well organized, and were without doubt the most impressive organization I saw in the city from an organizational and military point of view. They also gave the impression of discipline and commitment. The commitment, of course, is to Muslim Brotherhood-style Sunni Islamism.

According to Spyer the mainly non islamist FSA seem well equipped but not as disciplined or unified as the MB. That sounds like another Iran 1979 situation could eventually arise whereby the secular Mujahideen were massacred by the Ayatollahs once the war against the Shah was won. This war is however more complicated.

Whatever the case, no sides hold any love for Israel. Whoever wins this civil war will aim their guns at Israel should they get the opportunity. The only problem is that Syria is now the fault line for the Shia-Sunni conflict. The sunnis supported by the USA can not afford to lose this war, and neither can Iran supported by Iraq, Russia and China. The sides will fight to a bloody standstill. Lebanon will not remain inviolate. There is a reckoning to be had with Hezbollah which is shia and has actively interfered to prop up Assad.


 

The Dormition Daubing is the latest calumny against Israel

Did a jew really write this??

I've belatedly looked at the write-up by the Fransciscan Order regarding the disgraceful anti-christian graffiti scribbled on the Dormition Abbey door. Apart from the interesting pictures they've posted, the language used to describe this incident is worth looking at.

I wrote my previous article which was less skeptical than the one about Latrun. In it I condemned the perpetrator as potentially being jewish without having seen the photo kindly put up by the Fransciscans. The picture seems to prove that those 'evil' settlers again struck home. But did they really do it?

If you look carefully at the photograph (apart from the unexplained and possible signature at the top which appears to resemble arabic rather than hebrew), the author does not seem comfortable writing in the hebrew language. In a number of places he goes over the writing, as if trying it out before committing himself, and then makes two mistakes, one corrected:

If a young Israeli was writing such an inscription he would write almost unconsciously, as can be seen from previous 'price tag' daubings. He would have no problem writing the inscription 'Yeshoo Zonah' (Jesus is the son of a prostitute' ), just as if I would write "Franciscans hate Jews" I would have no problem in writing the jews bit, as it is a word in my everyday vocabulary. 'Franciscans' I have more problems with and have to think about it when I write it. Were I to write 'Zonah', 'prostitute' it is almost as easy for me to write as in English my native language so that it can be written automatically, as if i'm selecting from a template.

In hebrew,, 'Zonah' contains four letters, z,o,n,h with the 'a' consisting of an implied but unwritten vowel. The person who wrote the inscription makes a mistake on the 3rd and 4th letter. The 'n' he initially writes as a script 'z', before going over it heavily to make the 'n'. Now I find it hard to understand how the writer even managed to exchange the 'n' for a 'z'. They are totally unrelated, unless you are looking at a piece of paper whilst writing and get mixed up, or are just plain uncomfortable in writing hebrew script.

You might say, 'fine', the writer has a writing problem, is dyslexic to which i'll respond if he was to make a mistake, it should have been on the first letter of 'zonah' then, exchanging the 'z' for a 'g' which is the mirror image of the 'z' in script.

Exchanging the 'n' for a 'z' exposes the thought processes of a hebrew learner, with problems.
a) In hebrew block script the letter 'n' is very similar to the letter 'g'.
b) In script the letter 'g'  is the mirror image of 'z'

In the dauber's mind he wished for a script 'n' yet as an unpractised writer of hebrew, block script interposed itself with the very similar but wrong 'g' for the 'n'. The unwanted appearance of the 'g' in mind led to that already linked other stumbling block of the script 'g' which was then selected again wrongly as a 'z'. The writer hit on the two major stumbling blocks of hebrew writing in an instant. As a lazy student who doesn't like hebrew or the Jewish People in any case, the writer never took the time and effort to overcome the problem and work out the proper method of writing. He thereby established what in behavioural psychology is known as a conditioned or learned habit and thereby linked up the two problems and making a route from the 'z' to the 'n', interchanging them. By this orthographic mistake alone the writer exposed himself as a fraud.

And then we have the 'h' at the end of the word which is written in block rather than cursive script, again displaying an extremely poor usage of hebrew. An Israeli uses block script sparingly as it is reserved mainly for texts. He would never mix up the two styles of writing within one word.

We are supposed to believe that a young Israeli, nay a settler who most likely knows little of any other language than hebrew would write this? No chance. Even the first possibility I allowed for in my previous article on the subject no longer applies. It is not reasonable to suspect that a failing yeshivah student was wrote this. Only an israeli child could have made such a mistake, and he would have been tucked up safely in bed when this daubing sometime in the night or early morning occurred.

The writer of the Dormition grafiti was therefore most likely an arab from the nearby arab village of Silwan. In Israel arab students learn hebrew, sometimes to a very high level and many thousands of arabs attend university in Israel as the benefit of a free, open and democratic society. I doubt however if the writer of this scribbling is one of them. Hebrew is a second or third language for him, one with which he is not at all comfortable writing in.

Jews should stop beating their breasts each time our enemies pin the blame for an incident on Israel. From at least the al Dura hoax until now there have been too many cases of carefully stage managed crimes made to look as if done by jews for each complaint not to be looked at very carefully.

The latest people to use this event for their own ends are a pro palestinian advocacy group funded by the anti-Israel New Israel Fund and masquerading as coming from within israeli society, yet who represent their american extreme left funders such as Soros a self-hating jew who uses his money to help in the cause of bringing down the State of Israel.

"Tag Meir -- a coalition of Israeli organizations convened by NIF..........We -- the members of the Coalition Tag Meir (Bright Tag) comprising non-profit organizations from all sections of Israeli society working to counter Jewish terrorism and violence against Palestinians"

It's interesting that in the Jerusalem Post article there was no mention that this 'Tag Meir' 'anti-extremism' group is itself part of the anti-Israel extremist NIF lobby group. They are NIF agitators wearing a different kippa.

Groups receiving NIF funds have supported the boycott of Israel, work to frustrate the IDF in its security operations (e.g. Machsom Watch), and one NGO Adala defends palestinian terrorists. The NIF is not known to fund any mainstream Israeli organisations or those that the wider Israeli public might support. NIF backed groups took an active part in besmirching Israel for the discredited Goldstone Report but the NIF has not interested itself in supporting the human rights of Israelis suffering from the thousands of Hamas rockets fired indiscriminately at the south of Israel.

As with racist islamist groups it's always helpful if when you are engaged in an anti-Israel or anti american endeavour to wrap yourself up in the protection afforded by the label of 'human rights' whilst going about your activity.

When the NIF and its funded groups show just a tiny amount of concern for jewish terror victims  that they show for defaced walls and palestinian 'victims' of  Israel seeking to protect itself from terror, then I will believe their bona fides. These NIF groups might even show some interest in helping jewish victims of daily attacks against jews.

That light does not reach into many of the dark places in Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and many other countries in the arab world, and americans are beginning to wake up to that fact.

Congress's refusal of that treacherous president Obama's promised emergency present to Egypt's islamists of half a billion dollars just days after Morsi sent his thugs in to ransack the US embassy, itself just after the lynching of an american ambassador and his staff in Libya gives cause for hope.

I don't really subscribe to the 'why don't moderate muslims speak out' when living in muslim countries. Moderate muslims who speak out are like moderate christians who speak out. They end up dead. Why moderate muslims from the safety of western countries don't speak out and condemn the bigots, the fascist islamists amongst them is hard to understand.
