No peace on offer from palarabs, just more salami slicing of Israel

Minister Naftali Bennett normally gives much needed support to Bibi Netanyahu in what has become a fight to the death with the present US Administration ( I said already in Obama's first administration that he was the biggest threat to Israel and the Jewish People since Hitler, and nothing since has caused me to change my mind other than to realise he's a similar threat to the American People and world peace).

 But did Naftali Bennett really say the following:

“If the Palestinians want peace they have to do one simple thing: Recognize Israel as the Jewish homeland. That’s all. But if they don’t do that, if they don’t recognize Israel as the Jewish homeland, they can’t expect peace,” he told Amanpour.

For years supporters of Israel who read what arabs say to themselves in arabic (rather than in english to naive reporters) have argued that palestinian arabs don't want peace, that the only peace that Israelis will get from arabs is that of the everlasting sort, of the grave.

And here Bennett talks as if it is the arabs who need to make a choice between recognizing Israel or having peace instead of saying that the arabs refuse to make peace with Israel, and until forced by Kerry wouldn't even sit down for peace talks with Israel because their ideology does not allow for the existence of Israel. Just to get palestinian arabs to sit down at the table (not even the same table, they won't deal directly with Israel) Israel had to release 100 arab cold blooded murderers of jews.

Not for nothing do Israelis use 'Shalom' ('Peace') as a greeting. It is what Israel has always aspired to even before Independence when arabs were busy slaughtering jews, sometimes under the protective gaze of Britain. Peace is what Israel has known little of, and has had to fight for in the face of constant arab attacks.

Israel doesn't reject peace, but the arabs do, on the grounds that Israel is 'occupying their muslim land'.

There is no place for Israel in the arab mindset, no chance of peace with those who say that "Palestine from the river (Jordan) to the sea (Mediterranean)."

What Bennett means but did not elucidate was that he unlike Begin, Rabin and Sharon who gave away much land in return for a just the illusion of peace, is a chastened Israeli one with the benefit of hindsight, one who realises that the more concessions Israel makes, the less likely peace will happen. Peace in the middle east comes at the end of a gun, and the ability to defend yourself. The smaller Israel is, the less defensible, the more arabs are tempted to give Israel the coup de grace. So giving away land for 'peace' means not that there will be less attacks, but rather that there will be more, with dead jews as a consequence.

Bennett understands that peace is not  possible with arabs who hate Israel, and who only want jews dead, not as neighbours. Bennett rejects making any more concessions for a mirage, not that he rejects peace, because he doesn't.
What he rejects is the land linkage and the notion that Israel should have to pay for peace. The only side that pays for peace is the losing side, and if arabs see you as a loser there is no chance you will ever get peace.
Naftali Bennett the ex-Sayeret soldier should be careful not to ruin Israel's image whilst talking tough, in soundbites. Netanyahu would never have made such a gaff as he realizes that Israel's security depends not only on the gun but on how we explain Israel and its actions. Allowing our enemies to paint us as aggressive and against peace is a major prize that they seek that we must not hand them on a plate.

Bennett should have been doubly wary of his speech with this unsympathetic reporter, when dealing with CNN that routinely attempts to tarnish Israel's image.


Bennett should either learn from this mistake or leave the media arena to those such as Regev or Netanyahu who understand it.

Why Obama is pushing 'peace' talks with arabs who repeatedly declare their intentions to destroy Israel

Obama's charade of peace talks between Israel and palestinian arabs has not only had nothing to do with peace (that has been obvious all along to the unblinkered), but to service two goals, that of 1) divesting Israel of all of its ancestral lands, and 2) of keeping Israel's leadership so busy that it can not meet to discuss the awful decisions necessary to strike Iran.

It is not otherwise logical that the President of the United States should invest his time, and his Secretary of State's time  so profusely whilst the rest of the middle east is literally burning.

Israel is a tiny state surrounded by enemies, and Obama wants at this dangerous time for Israel to give up its strategic high ground? Israel can not be defended without its high ground, just a few miles, literally, from its only international airport and the majority of its population centers in the low lying coastal areas.

It is sad to see that Israel's leader at this time is a silvery tongued diplomat rather than an iron willed Ben-Gurion. Israel has rolled over time and again to receive Obama's tickles on its tummy, his oft repeated guarantees that America will always have Israel's back. And during all this Kerry the Iran lover, Samantha Power ('attack Israel') and the rest of Obama's Israel hating team are sharpening the knife to help arabs slaughter, our nation. We've been there before in 1948 when Britain did the same thing. It is so sad to see this being prepared by the great nation which was the very first to recognize the rebirth of the Jewish State after 2,000 years.

Israel whilst loving the american people must come out from the umbrella of a USA which whilst compelling Israel to join talks in  preparation for its own funeral, forces Israel's prime minister Netanyahu to pay for this  release over a hundred of the most heinous arab killers. Yet again Israel is forced to make gestures to genocidally inclined arabs, who honor the murderers and give nothing but assurances as to Israel's coming destruction.

Israel must say no to any more releases of these killers of old men and women, of holocaust survivors and children.

This release is the latest in a series that have over the years made a mockery of Israel's justice system, as only jews ever serve their full sentences. Israel's population where every family has lost at least one member in the wars arabs forced upon it are sick and tired of being made to pay a blood price every time, solely because they are a moral nation.

It is time that Israel forgets the false morals that the world demands of Israel, morals which prevent Israel ever winning its wars, morals which only apply to Israel and to a lesser extent to western democracies. As someone who has in the past been against the brutal death penalty I find myself in Israel's case becoming increasingly for it.

If there is no opportunity to make mass murderers sit in a cell for the rest of their lives after having taken innocent blood, then they need to be executed after due process.

Israel has a right to protect its society, even if Obama, Kerry and the rest of his evil pack don't believe so.

If Israel does not do reinstitute the death penalty, then its soldiers will probably take matters into their own hands which is not the best solution. It is a better solution however than seeing time after time these prisoner releases which have led to hundreds more deaths of Israelis in the recent past.

Morality demands that arab murderers be punished, just as the USA never releases prisoners, and only this week the USA condemned Mexico for releasing a drug gang leader who killed an american.

This is the world's morality. Jews must time and again be compelled to turn the other cheek and forgive those who destroy our people.

Israel is badly served by its leaders in the face of the most anti-Israel american administration ever.

Israelis are finally understanding how they will win peace

The older generation teaches the kids traditional peacemaking skills

Just like a mirage, the more Israel has pursued peace over the years the further away peace has become. The more israelis beat their breasts singing their mea culpas, trying to 'understand the pain' of those who call themselves palestinian, the more hatred and calls for the genocide of Israel come out of the arab world. The highest religious muslim leaders, the Muftis of Lebanon,Saudi Arabia and of Jerusalem have all called in the past year for the extermination of jews.

Morsy's creed: Jews are “the descendants of apes and pigs, "nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred" for Jews, Zionist and American enemies ”

 President Mohammad Morsy uttered 'amen' to a call to kill all jews in 2012, before his election called for Jihad (against Israel) and we now now that in 2010 as a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood himself called Egyptians to "nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred" for Jews and Zionists, "bloodsuckers who attack the Palestinians, these warmongers, the descendants of apes and pigs."
And of course the palestinian president Abbas endorsed this last week palestinian murderers of jews as 'martyrs' and of course the original palestinian terrorist and SS Bosnian muslim division founder the Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin el Husseini.

As Israel perfected the art of sparing civilian lives even when islamist arabs site their missiles, bunkers and munitions amongst them, the calumnies grew about Israel targeting civilians. Of course the willing dupes in the West have all played their role, from the human rights organisations Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch to charities such as Christian Aid and Oxfam. Even the ICRC was not above kicking Israel even whilst it called a daily truce of 4 hours to allow humanitarian aid through its lines (even then the arabs tried to bomb the very convoys bringing them help). As Israel has supplied food, electricity and healthcare to Gazan arabs, Israel gets lambasted in western media such as the BBC for failing to do the very things it does.

The truth is that all this care for human rights and 'palestinians' is a cover for attacking jews via the Jewish State. If this was not the case, why the  difference in treatment of the present war in Mali being ignored? Why are civilian deaths in Mali receiving no mention from the BBC and that bastion of human rights, the Guardian. They don't give a fig about human rights other than as a weapon to attack Israel with. And of course Israel is the frontline of the West against islamic imperialism, against the reestablishment of the caliphate. Western media will never mention it, but establishing the caliphate is a central theme of islamists. Destroying Israel is an essential step in that direction, thus the importance of 'Palestine' to islamists who have no interest in the nation state.

Israelis believed the world would understand them and their difficultires were they only to be more humane than any other society, were to give arabs land for vague assurances of peace, and were to reduce civilian casualties more than in any other previous war. The IDF attached lawyers to every company of troops to okay decisions even in the heat of battle and to prevent operations every time civilians and human shields appear at a target. 

Israelis have been so deluded. The world has mocked Israel, mocked its humanity and instead reported only the lies of its enemies whilst ignoring all the good Israel does for its arab population and also its enemies. The BBC in this last conflict even promoted false pictures of syrian dead children as having been the result of Israeli air strikes. Such was the desperation to find victims that absent real ones, fake ones had to be found, not once but at least four times in my reckoning.

In times of 'peace' whilst missiles fly at Israel and terror attacks amount up to hundreds a month, and Israel is condemned for not transferring money to the Palestinian Authority. What a bizarre world. Which other country would transfer money to an enemy which tries its best to destroy it?

As I have been calling for a long time for an approach that protects Israelis rather than enemy human shields, so the article below sees Israelis as finally emerging out of their torpor, their delusion.  Israelis are finally understanding the middle east game. The survivor is not the nice guy, the one who can out kill the enemy, the one who can so bloody the enemy that he will not get up for another round.

If Israel believes that it can buy its way out of another war with Egypt by appeasing it, by allowing the Peace Treaty to be changed, it is very much mistaken. The only way a new war can be avoided is if Israel makes it clear that Egypt will pay a terrible price, that the Aswan dam will be turned to rubble. Israel must learn the laws of the middle east. Hezbollah has not messed with Israel since 2006 after Israel turned its Beirut neighbourhood and much of South Lebanon to rubble. Balance of terror is the only way that the armies of islam will be put off from their plans.

Israel must change its mindset, turn from appeasement to a determination to defend its interests, to make its enemies pay a stiff price for their aggression against Israel. Once Israel does that it will have peace.

Netanyahu does not seem yet to have understood this as the Pillar of Cloud operation only bought a little time. Hamas is already restocking its arsenals with newer and better missiles and weapons. But the Israeli population will demand that arabs who attack Israel pay the ultimate price. It's time for Israel to forget about supplying an enemy population with anything other than 'shock and awe' when Israel is attacked. As Kedar notes, it is only Israel that allows thousands of missiles to be fired at it. For Russia the first missile Georgia fired into South Ossettia in 2008 was enough to begin a conflagration. Georgians will never again set foot in South Ossettia or Abkhazia. 

Unlike the arabs, jews aren't bloodthirsty. We aspire to peace and brotherliness with all men, including our muslim cousins. We wish nobody harm, but throughout our history we have not known peace whilst we were weak. Israel must now bare its teeth so as to be allowed some peace. This next election will by all accounts see the nationalist parties take power. A powerful message will be sent to Israel's enemies that the game is changing. Let's hope they listen for all our sakes.

The elections  are approaching in Israel, and polls are predicting what the Arab media calls, with great dread, "the meteoric rise of the radical right in Israel".

Why is the Arab world so concerned and what are they worried about?

The reasons for the concern .... stem from the cultural mindset of the region. An Israel that has a strong character and is confident of itself and the justice of its cause, might stop behaving like a dishrag, as it has done in the past, more than once, under the irresponsible leadership of the bleeding hearts who are the "Pursuers of Peace", and might adopt a pattern of behavior typical to the Middle East. More than a few Israeli politicians, some of them prime ministers, who sought "a solution now" have earned for Israel the image of "peace seekers", according to their point of view, but which the Middle East understood as "Obsequious beggars pleading for a little peace and quiet". In the Middle East only the vanquished, pleading for his life to be spared, begs for peace, and usually he will get a big, strong kick that will hurl him all the way down the stairs. Peace is the last thing you get when you beg for it.

In the embattled region where Israel is situated, the weak individual gets beaten up: he is shot at, missiles rain down upon him, his buses are blown up, he is de-legitimized, marginalized diplomatically, sued in international courts, states are established on his back that threaten him and declare their violent struggle against him again and again, and he - the weak one - must take all of this garbage that is rained down upon him and say, "It's only words". Sometimes he issues a warning but few take him seriously because he is weak and obsequious; he "seeks peace".

In contrast, only the strong and self-confident, he who can pose a threat, who does not restrain himself at all from utilizing full force, who will not surrender anything due to him, will have peace and tranquility. Everyone else will leave him be because they fear him, and this is the only peace that is recognized in the Middle East. Peace belongs to the one who responds with great power to the first missile that falls into his territory, even if it falls in an open area; who doesn't say on the radio, "no damage was caused", because the truth of the matter is that indeed great damage was caused to his sovereignty, and nothing is more important than his sovereignty.  Would a normal person accept someone shooting at his house, even if "no damage was caused"?

A Jewish Israel could be a magnet attracting Jews the world over to immigrate to Israel and to make Israel the center of their life, and thus it will be strengthened demographically, economically, socially and politically. This process might be encouraged by the antisemitism in Europe, which is rising as the Jews lose their influence and the public weight is transferred to groups of immigrants that don't become part of the society of old, sleepy Europe.

A Jewish Israel will  concentrate within it the educated Jews, the entrepreneurs, the inventors, the developers and the cutting-edge scientists who brought the Jewish people a prodigious number of Nobel prizes, and thus Israel will become a bastion of science, technology and development, innovation and entrepreneurship, while everything around it - chiefly in the past two years - becomes a quagmire of blood, fire and tears, pillars of smoke, destruction and devastation.

A sovereign and self-confident Jewish Israel will prove to its neighbors again that the Jews are not just another "protected people" ("ahl dhimmi" in their language) who must live according to rules determined by the imams, and must "pay the head tax in a humiliated condition" (Qur'an, Sura 9, Verse 29) according to the custom in the Arabian Peninsula of the seventh century CE. A Jewish Israel will cling with more determination to Jerusalem, the capital of the Jews since 3000 years ago, long before the sons of the desert broke into it and invented a history that supposedly grants them the rights to Jerusalem since the creation of the world.

A Jewish Israel will present a solid wall of defense against Islamic radicalization and tribalism in the Arab world, and will prove that only a people who clings to its identity and is faithful to its heritage can stand strong against the tidal wave of radicalization and violence that engulfs the Middle East, and this is exactly what frightens our neighbors: those who hoped that with the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood, Israel would be paralyzed with fear and would flee from all of its assets. A Jewish state such as this will prove to those near and far that the Jews have returned to their historical and eternal homeland and will remain there forever and ever, and only this way will Israel win peace from her neighbors. It will not be a peace of hugs and kisses, because there is no such thing in the Middle East.

Within Islamic tradition, there is a way to give peace to infidels who are invincible; temporary peace that continues as long as the enemy is invincible. This is the peace that Israel can win from her neighbors, and it will continue forever, but only if Israel is invincible forever.

A more Jewish Israel will ensure peace among all of the citizens and will oblige her neighbors to leave her in peace, and this is the reason that her neighbors fear a more Jewish Israel.

Peace at "any price" is a recipe for Israel's destruction

 Israel is waking up to the fact that there is an enemy entity in the south of the country, but the message from Egypt has still not gone home. That an adviser to Barak the defence minister can talk about keeping the peace treaty with Egypt at "any price" is foolish. 

Britain's Chamberlain wanted peace at "any price", and the price for that was Czechoslovakia. The result of that perfidy in selling an ally down the road was not peace, but a terrible world war that could have been avoided. Germany was no match in 1938 for an alliance of France, GB and Czechoslovakia. Germany's generals were themselves only waiting for the nod from Lord Halifax to go ahead and arrest Hitler.

Israel has been buying peace at any price with Hamas for a long time now, and it has no peace or peace of mind. Israel keeps to the islamist rules of the game that so long as only the 'expendable' towns and even the city of Beersheba are attacked, then Hamas rule is safe. So we see time and again wave after wave of rockets killing and injuring Israelis and terrorising a million people. Once the terror has been inflicted Hamas through the intercession of Egypt 'agrees' to a ceasefire. This constant terror now aided and abetted by Egypt is aimed at undermining the peace and security of Israelis throughout the south, and a few dead Israelis now and again are just the icing on the cake. 
And the terror has had its effect. Israelis with capital have left the south. Only the poverty stricken remain in Sderot and Netivot the communities closest to Gaza.

And Israel goes along with this. It kills a few expendable terrorists in the act of firing rockets and then waits for the next attack which will force a million Israelis to sleep in bomb shelters and stop life for days. And that is without mentioning the thousands of jewish kids who wet their beds at night. And this goes on year after year.


The 'peace at any price' mantra in Judea and Samaria means that there also there is no peace. Jews are attacked and their property is damaged and stolen unceasingly and arab settlements keep encroaching on jewish land.


There is an inability amongst many of Israel's leaders to recognise just what our enemies are up to. From trying to cut bits of Israel's ancient homelands away, to terrorising the border areas and now to Muhammad Morsy's desire to rearrange the peace treaty there is a plan, to reduce the area where jews live in, to make Israel's borders less secure than they already are, to reduce those borders, to situate armed and agressive enemies along those borders and then to destroy Israel when it is least able to defend itself, when its strategic borders are lost to it. This may happen through one coordinated attack or many smaller ones which gradually overwhelm Israel's defences. The latter plan is already in effect in Judea and Samaria and with the attacks from Gaza.

Barak and Netanyahu must realise the game has changed in the middle east. The sunni muslim countries are surrounding it with (the present exception of Jordan but that country is very unstable and could easily fall to the islamists) all extreme and all committed to Israel's destruction. None more so than Egypt whose leader only a week or two ago uttered 'amen' to his imam's prayer for the destruction of jews and Israel. One month before his election Morsy was screaming his wish for Jihad, his Muslim Brotherhood leader Baddie said that next year muslims would raise their black flag in Jerusalem.

If Israel's really do want peace, then they must remember the wise saying that "if you wish for peace, then prepare for war."

There is little chance that Israel will maintain high-level diplomatic channels with an increasingly radicalized Egypt, a top Israeli security official said Friday.

Defense Ministry department director Amos Gilad told students in Herzliya that the election of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohammed Morsi as president in Egypt had led to all but frozen ties between Jerusalem and Cairo.

“There’s no talking between our diplomatic corps and theirs, and I believe there will not be in the future. [Morsi] won’t talk with us,” he said.

Morsi’s election has worried some officials in Israel, who fear that the Islamist president will move to change the terms of Israel and Egypt’s 1979 peace treaty, which has held a cold peace between the countries.

Gilad slammed Morsi’s regime, saying its rise to power boded ill for the region.

“Out of a desire for democracy, grew a horrifying dictatorship,” he said.

Gilad, a top aide to Defense Minister Ehud Barak, said Israel needed to make sure the treaty with Egypt stayed in place, no matter the cost.

“We need to keep the peace treaty with Egypt at any price,” he said, adding that the country did not want to have to send troops against Egypt.

Morsi has said he will respect the treaty, but has downplayed any chance of high-level contact with Jerusalem.

In July, President Shimon Peres received a friendly letter from Morsi hoping for security and stability in the region, but Morsi’s office denied ever sending the letter.

A letter sent last month with Egypt’s envoy to Israel called Peres a “great and good friend.” After the publication of the letter caused a small uproar in the Arab world, Cairo claimed the text was standard and did not mean anything special.

There's no fool like an old Hirsch Goodman

 Goodman's first ludicrous statement is this:

"This is the time to use circumstance to bind the peace agreement, not excuses for undermining it."

 There have been euphemistic calls from across the political spectrum in Egypt to "re-negotiate" the Peace Treaty. Often the calls have been to simply tear it up.

President Mohamed Morsy has shown no interest in bolstering the peace treaty with Israel, but rather to increase his forces in the Sinai, including anti aircraft weapons and tanks.  All contrary to the peace treaty, and unexplainable in any other terms than to prepare the ground for a new conflict with Israel.

There is a formal peace treaty that binds the sides that could be interpreted with goodwill, or used as a club against the peace treaty itself. It all depends on what the leaders want. Morsy has to tread carefully between the expectations of the Islamists who put him into power, the terms of the peace treaty and continued American monetary and military support.

And Israel has to ensure that the peace treaty is not unilaterally violated, opening the potential for the unraveling of the accords altogether.

The arab and Egyptian press have been full of such 'violations' such as when Israel last year in  hot pursuit of terrorists who killed 8 Israelis killed egyptians soldiers who were firing at them. Nobody ever explained how it just so happened that terrorists wearing egyptian army uniforms managed to mingle with egyptian soldiers, to operate right next to them and carry out a deadly attack. Of course all the ire was directed at Israel rather than the terrorists.

Israel and Egypt both have inherent interests in maintaining law and order in Sinai. 

Israel certainly has, but Egypt has allowed the situation in the Sinai to deteriorate for years. The Egyptian view, also in Mubarak's time was that as long as only Israel suffers, then they'd turn a blind eye to terrror operatives working in the Sinai and smuggling rockets into Gaza. Only when Hezbollah sent 48 operatives to attack the Suez canal did Mubarak wake up. Even then he allowed hundreds of tunnels from Gaza to operated without checks as to just what the Gazans were importing.

There is the safety of American and international troops deployed in Sinai to consider, who are only there because of the peace treaty in the first place.

 This is interesting. The force is there to verify the peace treaty is being kept, i.e. that Egypt is not smuggling in forces as a vanguard in a future attack on Israel. The force has had nothing to say of Egypt breaking the provisions of the treaty. Which reminds us of UThants force in 1967 which abandoned their positions, leaving Israel in the lurch as soon as Nasser asked for a corridoor. And then there was the promised fleet to open the Suez canal up to israeli shipping, a provision from the 1957 agreement in which Israel agreed to relinquish the Sinai. Nothing came of that. And then there were the european observers at Rafah who fled into Israel as soon as Hamas began to threaten them.

Israel should know by now the value of international observers. They are a tripwire at the most, a sign of things to come. Other than that they have been as useless as the UN in Lebanon who go around closing their eyes to Hezbollah's arming of the south in contravention of Resolution 1701, their mandate under that resolution to confiscate weapons brought into the area. The Sinai observers have not seen fit to report publically the Egyptian violations of the peace treaty. In any case, their first priority being to look to their safety means they have been reducing their patrols to a point where they are effectively confined to base.

It can be expected that Egypt’s first non-soldier president will try to present himself as a responsible moderate, unabashed about his deep Islamic beliefs but, at the same time, committed to democracy, not unlike the leadership of today’s Turkey. Egypt, he can be expected to argue, is not part of the problem, but essential to regional stability. Undermining the peace treaty with Israel, it seems, is not something Morsy would logically want to do at this stage, though anything is possible.

Morsy and his Muslim Brotherhood have never had a commitment to democracy. Neither does the AKP under Erdogan. There are now thousands of political prisoners in Turkey. Turkey has the highest number of journalists imprisoned than in any other country in the world. Turkey has muzzled its journalists, undermined its courts and educational system and crippled its army with hundreds of ranking officers now in jail.

It is unbelievable that Goodman can make such ignorant statements.
He should watch the following two clips and then revisit the inanities he's been writing.

Both sides need the peace treaty and the current situation in Sinai shows one reason why. 

Israel needs the peace treaty. Morsy doesn't. He needs money to stabilise his country before beginning his campaign of re-taking 'islamic' lands which in his opinion are unjustly occupied by Israel. We aren't talking of Israel's ancient homelands of Judea and Samaria ('West Bank') but of all of Israel, of Tel-Aviv, of Haifa and Jerusalem. For Morsy jews have no rights anywhere in the region. They must all leave or die.

 

Israel and Morsy’s Egypt have a lot more in common than meets the eye. The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is a whole different kettle of fish compared to fragments of the organization in other parts of the Arab world. In Egypt the Brotherhood has traditionally advocated nonviolence and Islamic family values.

What a load of rubbish. The MB has been a violent organisation from its inception. The MB flag with its crossed swords should be enough to explain.

The MB founder said:

“It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet.”  Therefore, the Muslim Brotherhood opposes secular tendencies of Islamic nations and wants a return to the precepts of the Qur'an. The Brotherhood firmly rejects all notions of Western influences in addition to rejecting extreme Sufism as well. Brotherhood members organize events from prayer meetings to sport clubs for socializing.

The organization's motto: “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. Qur'an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”

the Muslim Brotherhood not only condemned the US for killing bin-Laden in May 2011, they also facilitated the growth of al-Qaida. Abdullah Azzam, bin-Laden's mentor, came out of the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood; Ayman al-Zawahiri, bin-Laden's deputy, came from the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood; Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, grew up in the Kuwaiti Muslim Brotherhood.

 The MB was for many year not violent in Egypt only because of the severe repression of the organisation over many years.

Morsy’s upcoming trip is to the US is a sure signal that he intends to stay on a pro- Western track.

 Rubbish. The Egyptian economy needs over $4 billion urgently before it grinds to a halt. Saudi Arabia and Qatar are being niggardly in coming up with the money as there are suspicions about Morsy, not least his cuddling up to Iran, seen as a mortal threat to those sunni countries.

"The right to vote, after all, is something we all hold dear and true."

Yes, but will Morsy ever go for elections again? His Hamas offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood is now years overdue for elections (as is Abbas of the Palestinian Authority). Democracy isn't about electing islamists in one time elections so that they can work to destroy secular society, ethnically cleanse christians and wage war against Israel. If Morsy decides to run for elections at a future date, it will only be if he is absolutely certain of winning. The MB will not relinquish power willingly.

This is the time to use circumstance to bind the peace agreement, not excuses for undermining it; to encourage Morsy to court the West, not fight against it; find workable solutions to the security problems in Sinai, not exacerbate them; and to wish Morsy well on his trip to America, not wish for his failure. 

The last thing the West should do is to work towards entrenching the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. The Muslim Brotherhood makes has made no secret that it is about power. Morsy has moved quickly to remove the military as a limitation on his amibitions, puttin in an MB islamist general to head the armed forces. Morsy has just appointed 50 new editors of newspapers and has made no move to call a parliament into session.

The MB also makes no bones about its re-establishing a Caliphate, and does not disguise its enmity for Israel in its arabic publications.

My only hope is that Israel's military with whom Goodman has close links are not as fooled as he is. It is no more than a hope because the 'concept' comes very much to mind at the present, of a military establishment lulled into complaisance by misleading statements and information placed by the egyptians before the 1973 war to make the israelis believe that they had no warlike intentions.

Similarly now Egypt's defence minister might make the right noises about keeping to the peace treaty but Egypt's recent behaviour of infiltrating unnecessary weapons into the Sinai without coordination with Israel belies that.

And then of course there is Morsy's recent telling Egyptians that jihad and war is the only way. His spokesman was even more explicit saying that Jerusalem will soon be liberated.

No pleading or bending of Hirsch Goodman's knee is going to change Morsy's intentions for Israel. The only limits on Morsy are the preparedness of his army and the parlous state of Egypt's finances. When you can't buy fuel, your tanks can't roll.

Israel must prepare its defences because Morsy and his defence minister are preparing for the day that they can attack Israel.
